New/Intermediate Wakeboarder--Board Help and trick Help

What's going on yall,

I'm 21 years old and have been wakeboarding for quite some time now; however, most of my riding has just been behind the boat not really doing much besides wake to wake jumps, surface 180's, surface 360's, and powerslides.

I am just now starting to really take more interest in the sport and want to learn more tricks and get better. Can I get some help from some of y'all shredders on what tricks I should start doing, how to do them, etc....

Also, I have been using my cousins beginner hyperlite (not sure exactly what board, it's about 6 years old).....And I now want to buy my own intermediate type board that I can use both behind a boat and at my local cable park.

Help and suggestions greatly appreciated!

I see your in Florida. I would suggest a wake school. There you could demo different boards and build a good foundation and learn drills to help you progress. The Wakeboard Camp and The Boarding School are two of the best in the Orlando,Clermont area.

Appreciate the advice, and I will look into it, but i don't really want to pay to learn drills or things. I think just expertise advice from friends and such will suffice along with trial and error.

I'm tied between either a Ronix or Slingshot. and my price limit is $370. I want something that is light weight, size 134, and is an intermediate board that I can use behind a boat and at the cable park. What is your thoughts?

Not sure specifically which model would work for you, but overtons seems to have every Slingshot board in the ballistic line for like $360

I'm thinking about this board. The Ronix one 12 model

With these bindings http://www.boardco.com/products/1203...rd-Boots-2011/

Tell me what y'all think?

I know they are probably the cheapest bindings out there but does it really matter?

Bindings definitely matter. I would find a nice closed toe binding. Look on ebay and see if you can't find some Company bindings that will fit you.

Thanks. How about the board? Think it is a good choice for me?

dezul 08-14-2013 8:40 AM

Also, what is your height and weight? and shoe size.

shawndoggy 08-14-2013 8:45 AM

I think nice closed toe bindings make a bigger difference than the board in my perpetual advanced-beginner experience.

These would be a good choice if you are a size 10.

I was just talking to a pro and he said I should not get the Ronix one 12 model. He said It is to aggressive of a board for me and not forgiving enough for a beginner/ intermediate rider like me.

What board would y'all suggest that is on the cheaper end but is nice to ride at the park and behind a boat and is a good level board for me?

dezul 08-14-2013 8:58 AM

This one will be good if you don't gain much more weight.

If you gain some weight, you might want to step it up to a 140cm.

I have ridden the LF Tex. It is a nice board. It rides a lot like the LF Harley but it a flex board so it will be good behind the boat or at the cable park. I know that will put you over budget.

I have never ridden the slingshot Choice but my friend has it and seems to like it pretty well.
