Any of you guys have Toyota Land Cruisers?

I just picked up a 1969 FJ40. It should be rolling up I5 on a car hauler from So Cal as we speak. It was orignally picked up in San Diego on this tow truck and then just got loaded onto a car hauler and heading north. Keep an eye out and snap a pic if you see it. I still have not seen it so hope it is as described. Anyone in San Diego area know the rig? Looking forward to this bad boy....

Very nice are you keeping it stock or lifting it and modifying? Are you able to take off the roof/doors easily like Jeeps?

tyler97217 07-25-2013 6:41 AM

Yeah you can take the roofs and doors off them. I have not decided on keeping stock or lifting it, wheel and tiring, and a motor. My original plan was a desert tan FJ40 with a small lift, black wheels and tires, and a 350 motor. This one is all original, restored and possibly just one owner so I am considering keeping it the way it is. I should see it tomorrow and then I can start deciding what to do with it. If anything at all, it will just be wheels, tires, small lift and motor.

If it is all original keep it the way it is. It looks bad arse as is.

tyler97217 07-25-2013 7:39 AM

Yeah that is the way I am leaning for sure.

Have a friend that just picked up a FJ60 because he was tired of watching the prices skyrocket on Defender90's and now FJ40's.

Holy moley, that thing is boss. Please don't disrespect it by moding it up, it's perfect stock

The closing scene of gran torino might be appropriate:
Don't chop top the roof like one of those beaners
Don't paint some idiotic flames on the side like some white trash hillbilly
And don't put a big gay spoiler on the back like you see on all the other zipper heads cars.

A buddy of mines who also has a awesome VLX. This this is the coolest 4x4 I have ever seen!

tyler97217 07-26-2013 7:53 AM

That is sweet... Mine should land in Oregon this afternoon or tonight. Anxious to see it!

Brearly_Mason 07-26-2013 9:58 AM

Diggs,
If your cruiser is as stock as it looks it is probably worth over $25K. I sold mine to Icon three years ago. The president was driving, but I think he switched to a Bronco.

tyler97217 07-26-2013 12:11 PM

Should see it in a few more hours!!

Old girl arrived yesterday. Not 100% as advertised, but still happy with it. Accidentally poked a hole in the radiator so now I am dead in the water until I can repair that... Damn.....

I am told this is still the original plate from 1969... Need to get it restored....
