Sadly, Chris blew his knee (monday I think)?
Going in for surgery today I believe. Chris is the Delta's most talented rider. This was his first year on the Pro Tour. He made the top 40 cut and qualified to ride all of the stops.

Here's to a speedy recovery and a strong come-back!

NOOOO! That is totally disappointing. Chris I pray the surgery goes (better than) well. The hardest part is recovery so we'll stay in touch. I'll let T know. Keep up that great spirit you have.

Good luck for sure. Keep your head up. With good/hard re-hab you can be back killin it in 6-8 months! Keep us updated on WW. We'll keep your mind pre-occupied! LOL.

Good luck Chris. Best wishes for a quick recovery.

buffalow 07-16-2009 5:09 PM

Man what a bummer. After all these years and hard work. Well you figured he came back stronger than ever from a broken femur, so this is minor compared to that.

Rich, send him my best!

twakess 07-16-2009 8:59 PM

Good luck and heal up quick. You will be out there killing it again in no time.

richd 07-16-2009 9:44 PM

To all: thanks for the kind thoughts and good wishes, I'll pass them on to him.

Chris ruptured the patella tendon in his right knee sunday morning and had surgery today. He was in good hands with the Palo Alto Sports medicine group and his doctor said everything went back together just fine. He sees no reason Chris couldn't be back to 100% with proper rehab by late spring.

If there is any silver lining in this it's that he's had patella tendonitis in that knee for the last year and a half and was probably headed for at least a scope and some rehab anyway. He was basically going to wait until after the Reno tour stop to pursue that treatment. The doc said that condition should be gone after the surgery heals so at least that's out of the way.

I can tell you in spite of this he's no where near ready to give it up!

tommyc 07-16-2009 11:10 PM

Sorry to hear this. Get well soon, Chris.

Rich,

Thanks for for the update on Chris. He was very positive when I spoke to him on tuesday. Going to miss seeing the King of the Delta with that unique "Dykmans Style" this Winter on the Delta.
I sure Chris is already analyzing and planning what he is going to work on next.

Heal quick Chris!

See y'all soon

Vince
