Does your heel move in your bindings?

I'm trying to find new bindings. I have a set of 2009 CWB answer bindings (large) which is the correct size for the length of my foot. I am finding my heel moves around a bit even when I tighten the heck out of the laces (and the rear clamp). My OLD bindings never had this isue but they were so snug my feet would hurt after about 10 min and I would have to stop. Is this the price I pay for bindings that don't hurt my feet?

Try on some more bindings to find something that fits your foot better. I know the new 2010 CWB bindings come with inserts that you can add between the liner and the boot to adjust the fit (Much like thirty-two snowboard boots). I've got the 2010 Factions and like them significantly better than my Answers from last year.

polhamus 06-15-2010 12:26 PM

Liquid force melissa 08 never hurt my feet. LOVE THEM!! guys version..liquid force vantage

andy_nintzel 06-15-2010 12:45 PM

God socks make me laugh.

No Heel lift here! Sounds Sketchy!

09 Ronix Cells. 100% foot to boot contact, zero heel lift.

wakeandsnow27 06-15-2010 12:55 PM

Zero lift with 09 LF vantages I just got. I was shocked at the responsiveness. I had been missing out for years riding other boots thinking it was normal.

2010 Ronix One... perfect comfortable fit w/out heal lift.

I don't have any experience with other high-end boots, but Ronix has Intuition linings that can be heat molded to your foot. I don't know if others offer this, but I can't imagine finding a better fit. It's hard to beat something that's custom fit to your own foot.

thanks, I was thinking this was not normal for a new boot but was not sure. It has been so long since I purchased new bindings. The last thing I want is for one foot to pop out and the other to stay in on a hard fall. I've been down that road before and it was not fun.

new boots = $400
good socks = $5
having Nintzel laugh at you because you look so goofy wearing socks = free

Seriously, try socks, they may work, they did for me. And not tube socks, but really good ergonomically correct socks. If that doesn't work then go out and spend another $400 on a pair of bindings that were recommended above.

wake_upppp 06-15-2010 3:48 PM

Got my 09 Ones for 250. Who spends 400 on bindings? Certainly not me. Absolutely ZERO heel movement or any other movement for that fact.

liquidmx 06-15-2010 4:06 PM

Heel lift inside the boot...not a problem on my newer Melissa's (Yes I wear women's boots, LF needs to make the vantage closed toed WITHOUT that stupid airbed), I didnt have heel lift inside the boot of my 09 One's either. HOWEVER I have yet to get a binding that I cannot lift the heel of the boot off the board at some point. On my older Ronix boots I could fit a roll of quarters between the baseplate and my board, same applies to my old vantages (pre IP chassis).

no heel lift for me in my 2010 LF ltd shanes, my mate has 2010 cwb aa's and same size boot and they dont even go tight, i can pull my foot out with a bit of force and they are super uncomortable

greenbass86 06-15-2010 7:12 PM

I haven't had to many different bindings, but I love the comfort of the CWB Torq bindings

bmr82 06-15-2010 7:25 PM

2009 Watson ltd. What is heel lift? Kidding. But no heel lift in those bad boys.

innov8 06-16-2010 7:41 AM

If you are getting heel lift in your 2009 CWB answer bindings , then they are too big.

I would see if you could trade for Med.

polhamus 06-16-2010 7:49 AM

Yes Johnny your right. I am not wearing just whatever socks are in my drawer. I wear socks with cushion, they are almost hiking socks from the mountain store.

cwb4me 06-16-2010 7:50 AM

i would try scuba socks .they are 1.5mm and should do the trick.any dive shop would have them. price 40.00 will andy laugh at you?i don't know.

guido 06-16-2010 10:09 AM

Incidently.... I did wear socks with my '08 Zeus' and '09 Answers, but have switched back to barefoot riding for 2010 with the Factions. For me it was a sizing thing. I was constantly right between boot sizes. The med's were too small and the larges just a hair to big. Socks filled the void. I loved when people made fun of it. Made me laugh. Knee high's baby.

gene3x 06-17-2010 1:02 PM

Good call.... I may even try socks with my open toe bindings. lol schweet!
