yosquire 05-14-2007 1:44 PM

fyi: <BR>Cardomain is closing out Polk DB650s for $56.99+tax w/free s/h. <BR> <BR>The DB650 seems to be one of the more preferred 6.5" speakers on Wakeworld. I understand these speakers are quite "bright" which makes them ideal for the open air environment of a boat. <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.cardomain.com/item/POLDB650" target="_blank">http://www.cardomain.com/item/POLDB650</a>

Are they not going to make these anymore? I see they are on sale everywhere.

clayton191 05-14-2007 2:22 PM

They are making the db651's which are the new version of them. <BR> <BR>I got some 651's for 99 bucks for four <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0> <BR> <BR> <BR>Circuit city buy one get one free deal.

yosquire 05-14-2007 2:27 PM

dang it-- Circuit city is now <BR>"Hot deal: Buy one pair of Polk get the 2nd pair 50% off " <BR> <BR>so that'd be $150 for four.

ericlee 05-14-2007 2:32 PM

Dam I was about to hit submit and buy the old ones until I refreshed the page and saw the ones at Circuit City....thanks Clayton for the info..I'm buying 4 of em to replace my crappy boss speakers

yosquire 05-14-2007 2:36 PM

Eric, <BR>did you get the buy one get one free deal?

hatepain 05-14-2007 4:10 PM

Nice I just ordered a few for myself thanks for the FYI. I had seen that deal a month ago but when I went to order they were sold out so I thought it had passed me by especially since it's a "closeout"

ericlee 05-14-2007 4:21 PM

NO Circuit city has them buy one get second pair half off...I had the entire order form filled out on the closeouts but didnt hit submit....I hear very good things about the Polks...hope they are as good as advertised

talltigeguy 05-14-2007 7:22 PM

I have them as my interior speakers and am plenty pleased. That is a good deal too.

clayton191 05-14-2007 7:30 PM

I bought mine a few weeks ago -- so that might be why they are more expensive now --- they were buy one get one free though :\ <BR> <BR>Sorry

weskel 05-15-2007 7:17 AM

Do you have to have a AMP to run these speakers, or will most good head units produce enough power just for "normal" cruising volume levels? <BR> <BR>Kelly (weskel)

partyb 05-15-2007 8:57 AM

I just got these at Circuit City b/c I had been seeing that they are well liked on ww and wb.com. Yep, they are 99 for a pair, and then half off the second pair. 150 for four. Same hole and same screw patterns as my old clarions in my x2, super easy. Made a big difference with same deck and no amp. But then again my old speakers were totally shot.

aldrichiii 05-15-2007 1:27 PM

Put a pair of the 5 1/4" (DB525) in my boat last year with my new deck and loved them. I ordered another pair off of Cardomain today to replace my other two speakers for only $50 ($60 less than I paid last year for one pair). Can't wait to get them in my boat and cruise around with them! They even shipped out today about 4 hours after I ordered them. Thanks for the heads up man.

stxr_racer 05-15-2007 2:59 PM

Hey, can anyone tell me if the db650 or 651's will fit in behind the factory mesh covers of my 03 Nauti without needing any modification, spacers or redrilling of screw holes? Clayton how are you finding the 651's? <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/448928.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR> <BR>(Message edited by stxr_racer on May 15, 2007)

Mine just arrived today -- talk about fast. <BR> <BR>turns out cardomain is south of Seattle...which means I paid $11 in tax. but got them next day. <BR> <BR>They came with a promotional sample of Speed Stick Deodorant. Why? I don't know.

clayton191 05-15-2007 8:43 PM

I found the 651's on the circuit city website a while back ... i was looking for 650's but they didnt have them anymore. I bought them, and picked them up in store. I've installed two of them, sound awesome.

wakecat 05-16-2007 4:55 PM

How do the mmc650's compare to the db650's or 651's? Is it worth the extra money? Iv'e seen the mmc650's for about $120 shipped/ pair.

jwharan 05-17-2007 4:29 AM

I went with 4 pair of mmc650 in my boat. Audiodealer.com has them for 105.99 plus shipping. I emailed them, and they gave me discounted shipping for 4 pair.

duffy 05-17-2007 4:45 AM

I have the 650's in my BU and there great! I have six in the boat and four up on the tower.

yosquire 05-22-2007 10:53 AM

fyi, they are out of stock at CarDomain but are in stock at Crutchfield for $59.99: <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.crutchfield.com/S-DrL3ffLigfc/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?search=db650&amp;i=107DB650&amp;pfxid =k3787" target="_blank">http://www.crutchfield.com/S-DrL3ffLigfc/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?search=db650&amp;i=107DB650&amp;pfxid =k3787</a>

bigpimpin4u 05-22-2007 12:30 PM

<b> Bevan (stxr_racer)</b> <BR> <BR>The db650's will fit behind your cloth covers of your SAN. Screw holes might not light up exactly but they will fit. Nothing will be seen from the outside so it really doesn't matter.

stxr_racer 05-22-2007 1:49 PM

Thanx John..I have some mmc6540's to try, if they don't fit I will go with the db's.

silverlude 05-22-2007 7:05 PM

when they say the spks have 2 way xover, does that mean they have 2 caps to block low bass frequencies from the woofer cone and a cap for the tweeter as well? Also, does anyone know if a 220uf cap is the same as a 220mf cap. I was told by Clarion tech to get some caps to keep unwanted bass out of my 6.5" spks but when I tried to buy them all they had was 220uf.

firemedic 05-23-2007 12:05 AM

Can't go wrong with Speed Stick. <BR> <BR>I'm running the 650's as my tower speakers on a Kenwood amp. They sound great.
