I'm buying my first boat this year. The boat I'm leaning toward is a 05 Enzo SVO23. It's the dealers demo. Average retail that the NADA has on it is 45.6K. The guy wants 48K to make up the interest he has paid on it. Personally, I think he is jazzing me. Is this a common practice amongst boat dealers?
No. If it was his demo, he used it to help sell other boats to keep hours off of his show room boats. The boats that his demo boat helped him sell should have more than paid for his interest. Personally, I don't think you should have to pay for his interest on his investment. Wait till the boat show, there are always additional incentives to buy there.
Oh, yeah, and what about if and when you sell it? Are you going to ask the buyers to pay for your interest? Don't waste your money, buy from someone that wants you in their boats.
Is the boat used or a demo? If it is a demo it will come with a new warranty.
Remember you do want the dealer in business.
That has got to be the stupidest sales technique I have ever heard! Shop around for good deal from a reputable dealer. Remember, even though that boat has not been titled it is still "used". Find a dealer who wants your business.
If this is the way this dealer is treating you before the sale, you will be in a world of hurt the entire time you own that boat and deal with that dealer....
Chris,
When i purchased my boat in 04 it was the dealers demo as well. Like everyone else said, a demo boat is just that. To demo and hopefully sell one of the showroom floor. My dealer sold me his demo below nada because he wanted it gone. It seems to me you need to keep shopping.
It will be interesting what he wants for the boat in another few months... more interest? yea right, he's pricing himself out of the market. And has been for 2 years now..

Where do these sales f'ers get all this BS? Do they honestly pull this crap with people? amazing. Whats sad is they try this crap b/c it actually works from time to time....
Even if you get a full warranty remember that the boat is used. Every boat will have problems, but you would be getting a boat that with every problem you will always wonder if the cause was being a demo.

If I was paying full price for a new boat I would want the boat new....also there is nothing better then breaking the shrink wrap on your boat
I would not think of paying more than book value for a demo/used boat...even with full warranty. He should be willing to discount the boat in order to get rid of it. I would shop around and when you are ready to buy....make a low offer...you can always go up a little if you have to. If he knows you are ready to write a check...he may be willing to cut a deal. Cash is king!!!
A demo has been used but has more value than a used boat. IMHO Telling you he wants the interest seems a bit odd. What you have to decide is the boat worth the money to you. If not then keep looking. 48K is not a new price for a 23 foot Enzo
It is his interest to pay if he did not want to pay interest then don't take a demo.
Is he going to charge you for the fuel that is in the gas tank as well. Maybe you can negotiate a deal for free air in the trailer tires. This guy trying to sell this boat seems somewhat ridiculous.

one word... PASS.
I do want the guy in business. I'm a business owner myself. I don't like taking losses if at all possible. This boat is not blinged out at all. But he has a product that is almost two years old that he is trying to move at an almost new boat price. I can get an avalanche for about the same and its still in the shrinkwrap. Just out of curiosity does anyone know what the 05 enzo's went for? I am going to continue to shop. I know I can get a boat elsewhere. I guess my main concern is getting the boat serviced. From what I've been told unless you buy your boat from the local dealer they won't service it. Thanks.
I dont think that is true, any dealer of that manufacturer has to warranty the boat. What they dont have to do is put you if front of customers that bought their boat from that dealer or do any favors for you. No manufacturer is going to let one of their dealers mistreat the customer by not doing the warrany work. As far as service and maintenance, any dealer will do that because that is what they are in business to do.
So, boats don't appreciate??

Darn!

Keep looking, you will find a much better/fair price. Boat show season is coming as well...
48k is just plain ridiculous. Check this out:

2006 Centurion Storm Series Enzo SV230
MSRP: $52,538.46

This is from my local Centurion dealer:
http://www.copeandmcphetres.com

The fact that he said he wants you to pay his interest (Or whatever he meant by “Make it up”) should be enough reason for you to pass. If he didn’t want to pay interest don’t get a loan!!! What an ass. I love what someone said above about charging you for the air in the tires.

BTW - How many hours are on this boat?
I agree with the rest...Telling you he can't discount the demo.......That's just plain BS.....Without a list of options it hard to give some insight...If it well equiped that's def a fair price....If it's plain well a little high.....Also depends on where you're located. The interest thing is correct...dealers do pay that on boats, but to use that as n excuse to raise the price..come on....not very good salesman if you ask me.

Also can't go off a NADA guide price.....That excludes the fact that the boat is actually "NEW" meaning it has never been registered. Nada is not a price list it's a rough guide.....there are a ton of extra factors that need to be included in the price of a new boat. Some boats do sell for more than NADA value. All in all to give you a better idea of $$ nedd some of the otions. Can also tell you the base price for a 23 foot Enzo for 07 is gonna be around 52K THAT"S BARE WITH NOTHING... Most options are arpund 500-1k and they add up quick.

Also as far as a dealer goes...Here where I am at there is one dealer per MFG. So in my eye's I would never buy a brand of boat and expect to get good service from anothe MFG's dealer. However if there were multiple dealers with the same MFG I would def shop around and go with the place with the best deal and have it service by any of them. You may get a little quicker turn around at the place you bought it from though. Wish we had that option here.......we'd be able to get better deals on boats for sure. Here the territory rules are strictly enforced making it a monopoly. There isn't even a shop that carry's the same equipment lines within 75mi's....UNREAL

Also that Enzo above at Cope is dope looking. Love plain boats.....but that thinig has next to ZERO options...pretty much a base.....so that will give you a good idea of a price guage as well.

(Message edited by r3612 on December 19, 2006)

The options are basically the same as the one from the link above. The only upgrade is that the trailer is galvanized. Hours are around 50. What would a fair price be. I'm thinking of offering him 45K and letting that ride. If he wants to deal, so be it. If not, oh well.
Centurion Does not publish MSRP so the
$52,538.46 from Coop must be there asking price
Kevin is right.
That is asking price.

Copes/Ultimate has 06 Enzos from $45,9 up to 53,1...
Priced based on options included.
Asking vs. MSRP....either way the dude selling a two year old boat for too much. Depending on what you are going to do with financing the difference between new and used is too close to save a couple thousand bucks…may end up being $20 more in a boat payment..

I don't care if it has never been registered it's still a used boat. If you buy it and register it you now have a two year old used boat....
Chris I bought a dealer demo as well. You should get several thousand below MSRP. Look around at used boats with similar hours, year, options, etc and offer him that. He'll take it. It's your first boat but don't get taken advantage of. There is an 06 Enzo in San Diego for $34,500 brand new at the dealer.
I"d lik eto see that o6 Enzo for that price.....because it would be sold....I got dibbs if it exhists

Had to be......like I said otherwise I got dibbs....Maybe you could print out the add and take it to them and they'll honor the price. If you find where it was priced at that let me know....I"ll give it a try can't hurt
What I meant was it's on boattrader and their website at that price. KJ I thought you had dibbs?

I see it there DAMN THose are some sick prices for sure.......something has to be up......To bad they are closed gave them a call. I"d drive out there for sure and take home a new ride. Most of the boats are stock, but those are some pretty fair prices for those looking. even on the X-1
there has to be a catch

I GOT DIBBS ON THE ENZO OR maybe even the X-1 HARD CHOICE

(Message edited by r3612 on December 19, 2006)

Hope some peopel that are in need check them out.

Always a firm believer in jumping on a good deal when you see one cause it might not be there tomorrow
Sounds too good to be true.
I think rather than buying my inventory from the east coast factory I will just buy from On The Edge. Looks like I can buy an Enzo for T5 pricing.
It was def a missprint. When I called said they had 7 calls on it this morning

Price has since been changed. Still not priced that bad though if someone is looking. 46,500
Like Ed said to good to be true!

46,500 is about right for a dealer that needs to move left overs

(Message edited by krbaugh on December 20, 2006)

KJ them bastards LOL... Oh well it was worth a shot. I bet they screen their ads better from now on. You're right not a bad price better than the demo price Chris got. I bet they would still come down from that price.
I'd like to be in the market for that specific boat, just not this year, too bad, I think that's a killer deal at $46 and change.
man you a crazy to buy that boat. I seen brand new MB 220v 2007 going for a little more than that. Run from that guy and that boat
