Hello, I am considering trading my 4x4 up to a newer 2WD Silverado but I am a bit hesatant. Will I have trouble towing an X1 out of a Wet concrete launch Ramp?

I sold me 4x4 I6 grand cherokee for a 2wd I6 Grand Cherokee and It does a good job pulling my 3600-4000 lbs Supra out of the water, and my ramp is steep and wet thanks to all of the wally pulling their trailer out at 1/2 throttle. I think you will be fine.

Get the G80 (GM Locker Option Code) and you should be fine!! I have a 2wd Tahoe that does great! While it does have more weight over the rear tires, and it doesn't slip a tire, I still think you won't have any problems if you get the G80.

I have a 2wd with street tires and when it gets slick we will have 2 guys from the boat jump in back of the pickup over the wheel wells for added traction.

I have never had a problem with my 2wd armada pulling my x1 out. Worst case scenario would be like Bill did and add some weight in the bed.

my 2001 f150 2x4 pulls out just fine... had to do the people swap with the old street tires.. to get out once in a while.. but with the new yokahama's geolanders its been working great

It's mostly in the tires.

i switched from a 4X4 f150 to a 2wd F150 and I have never had a problem. Make sure to get the limited slip differential if GM offers it... it makes all the difference.

I agree with Chris, not a good idea to use the boat. Get the locking rear end you will have to ease it out of the water but you will be just fine. If you have trouble a simple tire upgrade will do the trick but you should have no trouble.

I have a 07 Silverado 2WD and the only time I have trouble pulling my X1 out is when I use a particular ramp that is slick as snot. It doesn't help that this ramp is a steep grade from the water up over 200 feet.

If you slightly engage the parking brake it will keep the second wheel from spinning, and you get better traction. <BR> <BR>I had to use this trick last year when the lake was really low. This was in an F150 2WD standard rear end. I was by myself and could not have gotten up the ramp without this technique.

You should be fine. I have a 2wd Ram 1500 and i pull my boat out fine.

I've had to use "a little prop" to get started on particularly bad ramps before and I'm still sportin' stereo vision. <BR> <BR>I'm definitely going to look at getting the G80 diff in my next vehicle as Bocephus suggested above. I did a little research into after he mentioned it in a thread a couple of weeks ago. Using the boat to "push" the tow vehicle out of the water works great. It can also be done safely. We routinely use the boat to push, and have it down to a science. Put the boat in gear and set 1400-1600 rpm, then go... Works like a charm.

I think you will find that most people with 4x4s dont even lock it in to pull there boat out. I know i dont.

I think with a limited slip you will be just fine. Worse comes to worse you can have some people jump in the truck for more traction. I do this with my 2wd tacoma but it is also a 5 speed. My 2wd 1500 never had any problems spinning out and it did not have limited slip.

I have a 4x silverado and have never had to put it in 4-wheel on the ramp. Well once but it wasn't really a ramp!<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0>
