ronixrider456 08-11-2009 8:37 AM

i am calling it. moby dick 7

focker 08-11-2009 8:46 AM

Not far fetched in the least. Is his crow 7 the only mobe 7 currently landed? I guess what Im really asking is has Adkison rode away from the heel mobe 7 yet?

xbones 08-11-2009 8:54 AM

i believe a Whirly Dick is a 7 mobe.

wakeridr84 08-11-2009 9:02 AM

whirly dick is definately a mobe 7

focker 08-11-2009 9:05 AM

Here we go... <BR> <BR>I didn't forget about the whirlydick. I would consider a mobe 7 to be a trick with two handle passes, the same way a 'mobe' is an invert with a 360 degree handlepass spin. A whirlybird is not a mobe, therefore I wouldn't consider a whirlydick a mobe 7.

jarrod 08-11-2009 9:14 AM

If a Mobe Dick is a mobe (it has a handle pass), then a Whirly Dick is certainly a mobe.

czap 08-11-2009 9:44 AM

David, well the whirlydick has a 720 degree handlepass spin. Its a mobe. If you wanna call it a mobe or not, whatever.. ITS A FLIP WITH A 720

focker 08-11-2009 10:33 AM

J-Rod I never said the WhirlyDick wasnt a mobe. It is, I wouldn't really call it a mobe 7 though. <BR> <BR>And Scooter - exactly, it is a flip with a 720, one of the 360's is just ole.

jarrod 08-11-2009 10:34 AM

You're splitting hairs buddy!

xbones 08-11-2009 10:37 AM

^ Agreed.

driving 08-11-2009 10:44 AM

I would say figuring out how to beat Bob.

jarrod 08-11-2009 10:50 AM

Uh oh! Bob has caught up eh?

focker 08-11-2009 10:51 AM

If saying that a whirlybird is not a mobe is splitting hairs, then yes indeed good sir I am splitting hairs. <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>

I think, we'll see Phil stick a 10. But it would be interesting to see if Phil goes for the doubleup 10, or the w2w 10.

sparkmonster 08-12-2009 12:00 AM

Well water dork I think you are right. Look at his two of his twitter posts from today. <a href="http://twitter.com/PhillipSoven" target="_blank">http://twitter.com/PhillipSoven</a>

I have always considered a mobe any trick in which you rotate 360 degrees while also going inverted, handle pass or not. A whirly is a mobe in my book, making (I believe) the whirly 7 the first mobe 7 ever landed.

bill_c 08-13-2009 3:40 AM

I have an idea on what phillips next trick is.

bflat53212 08-13-2009 5:20 AM

"the same way a 'mobe' is an invert with a 360 degree handlepass spin." <BR> <BR>While this used to be the old-school thought, I really think it has been morphed into any invert with at least a 360 degree rotation. Check out the description of a Whirlybird on this site. <BR> <BR>Besides, the argument has been made before, if this is not the case, you couldn't call a crow with a frontside 360 a crowmobe unless the rider passes the handle. If they land wrapped, this couldn't be a mobe. <BR> <BR>I really don't think it's important to differentiate. They always claimed it came from a word that means the intersecting of two lines. These two lines could be the riders rotation: 1st line - a flip, 2nd line - a spin. <BR> <BR>Just my .02

ryan_shima1 08-13-2009 7:20 AM

Sly Park Mark said: <BR>"A whirly is a mobe in my book, making (I believe) the whirly 7 the first mobe 7 ever landed." <BR> <BR>Actually, Erik Ruck was doing Mute mobe 7's back in the early 2000's and landed them in comp's.

tonka 08-13-2009 8:24 AM

I don't think I ever saw Ruck land a back mobe5, let alone a back mobe7. I'm pretty sure a hs back mobe7 has never been landed.

ryan_shima1 08-13-2009 8:31 AM

MS, <BR> I was one of the judges at the 2001 Gravity Games and saw him landed it off the DU. He also landed it after that in a pro tour stop. First rotation is ole with the mute grab then he does a full handle pass on the second rotation.

wakecis 08-13-2009 8:34 AM

those are banked out switch mobes - not mobe 7's. just because the axis is slightly different doesn't make it a 7.

ryan_shima1 08-13-2009 8:40 AM

Charles, if you're replying to my post, back then it was classified as a Mobe 7 and he didn't do them switch.

wakecis 08-13-2009 8:40 AM

but....jeff heer may have been the first to do hs mobe 5 - late 1990's - much more trick-ski style than andrew's recent ones.

wakecis 08-13-2009 8:44 AM

can't have it both ways - it's either an ole hs o/a 7 or a mute mobe - but not a mobe 7 - regardles of what they were calling it. <BR> <BR>wasn't he doing them switch and trying to land wrapped, then pass on the water - around philadelphia x-games time....

roy_munson 08-13-2009 8:44 AM

ruck's mobe 5's are sick, his grabs make them look so cool.

wakecis 08-13-2009 8:46 AM

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6TPt0WYqSo" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6TPt0WYqSo</a> <BR> <BR>25 seconds in - if there were another handle pass on the way down - is that what we're talking about?

masonmeuth 08-13-2009 8:49 AM

haha if u are callling the mute mobe/ ole 7 he used to do a mobe 7 then that ole mute hs 540 that lyman does would be a mobe 5 or a ts ole 540 would be considered a mobe 5. which actually they are more close to a roll to revert or a scarecrow

mbsteez 08-13-2009 8:53 AM

That was a mute roll to revert...add a handle pass and it'd be a mute mobe.

ryan_shima1 08-13-2009 10:09 AM

Charles, no. Like Steve said, if you added a handle pass that would be his switch mute mobe. <BR> <BR>I'll try to dig into my video collection and see if I can come up with the footage.

wakecis 08-13-2009 10:13 AM

yeah - steve agreed with me. it's a would be a mute mobe - and i think that the trick we're talking about....there is no ruck mobe 7 footage.

wakecis 08-13-2009 10:17 AM

want to place a wager on it? how about a 1 yr subscription to the wake mag of your choosing.

pearsonville 08-13-2009 10:24 AM

I am hoping it is going to be: either a Wave to the Judges, or the famous Kaden Klaas Light Saber... which will it be?

eyekahn 08-13-2009 10:28 AM

YES! Another thread morphes into is a whirly a mobe or not?

ryan_shima1 08-13-2009 11:23 AM

Charles, I got no problem with the wager but let's clarify what we're wagering because I've seen too many times a trick is called one thing then years later it's deemed something else. <BR> <BR>I'm wagering what the trick was originally called. What's your take?

wakecis 08-13-2009 11:26 AM

i'm wagering that erik ruck never landed a mobe 7. <BR> <BR>we don't have to wager - it's just in good fun, but i do need some new magazine subscriptions.

focker 08-13-2009 11:44 AM

What Ruck used to do people called a mute ole 7 (ole opens a whole new can because there is no definitive line as to how uninverted you need to go to consider something ole or not). What Adkison has been attempting (and really close on) is a mobe 7. <BR> <BR>and when I say 'handlepass' when it comes to a mobe I am referring to the fact that a rider performs a 360 degree rotation where the rider must either pass the handle or land wrapped. Whirlybirds are Ole` which discounts any options whatsoever to pass the handle. <BR> <BR>Whirlybirds are not mobes. A crow mobe/pete rose etc can be landed wrapped and is still a mobe. The same way someone can do a toeside 360 and land wrapped or pass the handle and it is still a 360.

spearing 08-13-2009 12:17 PM

Hybrides peeps how about maybe........ <BR> <BR>ole' + mobe = olobe 7 <BR> <BR>mobe + ole = mole' 7 <BR> <BR> ie. whirlybird + Moby Dick = back flip olobe 7 <BR> ie. Moby Dick + whirlybird = back flip mole' 7 <BR> <BR>everyone's happy <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0>
