jimmy_lariche_ 06-02-2008 10:47 AM

Aaron Rathy landed a KGB 540 wake to wake while filming for our new video! It was super clean , and probably one of the coolest things ive seen done! Congrats rath!

curtbernstein 06-02-2008 11:04 AM

What?! Alright... Is this like invent a new trick week or something?! Nice work Rathy...!!! Lets see that vid!

waketherainbow 06-02-2008 11:14 AM

What video will it be for??

andy_nintzel 06-02-2008 11:15 AM

HELL YEAH! Congrats to Rathy laying down Hammers!

knarbar 06-02-2008 11:17 AM

Honestly I thought Murray landed those already. Could be wrong though

intotheflats 06-02-2008 11:24 AM

I believe ricky g has landed some and chad sharpe too, but still a sick trick, definitely one you don't see too often

hawkeye7708 06-02-2008 11:26 AM

sweetness!! soven's crow 7 and now a KGB5, awesome congrats rathy!!! Jimmy, whats the scoop on this new video? Team video?

sidekicknicholas 06-02-2008 11:28 AM

I've seen wrapped....he prop did a handle pass one....which would look WAY WAY more amazing <BR> <BR>Congrats!

bflat53212 06-02-2008 11:32 AM

Yes, Murray has landed this trick before, so has Sean O'Brien, I'm sure you can find video of it on Orlandowake. I think a number of riders have landed it. If you remember last year (I think) Murray got knocked out cold at a comp, that was a KGB540 attempt. If he had in his contest run, you know it was solid. Still, fantastic job by Aaron, congratulations!

wakeriderixi 06-02-2008 11:34 AM

Murray does them wrapped. SOB was the first to land it handle passed- off the double up. Rathy must be the first to do it wake to wake.

bflat53212 06-02-2008 11:42 AM

Right on Paul!

knarbar 06-02-2008 11:54 AM

Cool thx for clearing that up and ya Im pretty sure it was a KGB5 that murray got knocked out on

wakeriderixi 06-02-2008 12:02 PM

Murray did get knocked on on a 'wrapped' KGB-5.

wakeworld 06-02-2008 12:06 PM

Crazy looking move! Here is the video of Sean O'Brien doing it off the double up back in 2005... <BR> <BR><a href="http://wakeworld.com/Galleries/GetImage.asp?GalleryID=320&amp;ImageID=44" target="_blank">http://wakeworld.com/Galleries/GetImage.asp?GalleryID=320&amp;ImageID=44</a>

06-02-2008 12:10 PM

that was sick. can't imagine what rathy's looks like W2W.

srh00z 06-02-2008 1:19 PM

Sean O'Brien is awesome. Thanks for posting up the video, can't wait to see Rathy's.

wakeriderixi 06-02-2008 1:31 PM

I saw SOB bail on a KGB he got booted on that he could have taken to 720- pretty sure he bailed because he got caught up between the regular KGB and the 540. Realized he could easily take it to 540, just didn't. On that same set he bailed on a 900 that could just of easily have been a 1080. <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>He's good.

wakeriderixi 06-02-2008 1:32 PM

Oh! Congrats on the last tour stop! Starting to put up some good runs that are getting you more then that underground exposure your known for!

richd 06-02-2008 1:49 PM

The KGB which has always been an ugly trick IMHO. I'd rather see a handle passed roll to blind but that definitely added the cool factor to that trick. I look forward to seeing Aaron's too, I'll bet he just powers thru it.

gene3x 06-02-2008 4:23 PM

Tootsie Roll is an Ugly trick. That KGB5 is bad ass!

wakedad33 06-02-2008 4:57 PM

Congrats Rathy, Jimmy, stoked on your ride yesterday, solid man.

jarrod 06-02-2008 5:40 PM

Some make the KGB look good. Andrew has a cool looking grabbed KGB, but in general I agree with rich.

goatroper222000 06-02-2008 5:44 PM

Who cares about KGB5s??? <BR> <BR>ide MUCH rather see a BS 180 into the flats..LOL <BR>sry i had to. <BR> <BR>that is sick. congrats Aaron! cant wait to see the vid!

hawk7 06-02-2008 8:38 PM

It's not ugly imo, it's crazy, in my book, crazy= awesome. also, imo, a heelside prog. backroll 2 blind [late] is the ugliest trick in the sport, but different something for somethin else... ya know? <BR> <BR>Paul, I didn't understand your accronym at first...

norcalbordr 06-02-2008 9:12 PM

I've seen Murray land it at Boardstock at the Delta

westsidarider 06-02-2008 10:01 PM

murray did his wrapped. i saw the same one you saw J...im not positive but i think ricky g has done one handle passed

curtbernstein 06-02-2008 10:05 PM

That is the coolest looking trick I think I've seen.

wakeworld 06-02-2008 11:22 PM

I think it's so cool that these guys hit stuff like this and then send the video right to us so that we can bring it to the fans!! Phillip did it the other day with his melan crow 7 and now Aaron Rathy does it with his KGB 5. Enjoy! <BR> <BR><a href="http://wakeworld.com/galleries/getimage.asp?galleryid=600&amp;imageid=10" target="_blank">http://wakeworld.com/galleries/getimage.asp?galleryid=600&amp;imageid=10</a>

dakid 06-02-2008 11:27 PM

damn! he landed it as if it was a warm-up trick! <BR> <BR>nice work rathy!

tinytdubb 06-03-2008 12:20 AM

Rathy is as cool as the other side of the pillow when he nails tricks....sick

captain_vilfo 06-03-2008 7:19 AM

yeah that definitiely looks more like an ole bs 900 than a kgb 540, if you look he does the first handle pass over his head <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>just playin

jarrod 06-03-2008 7:28 AM

He definitely made it look good. That was impressive.

srh00z 06-03-2008 8:03 AM

Nice. It was nice to see it from that angle too. I don't see how Rathy kept from smiling after sticking that so clean. Looked like he had done it 100 times.

maliburider456 06-03-2008 10:49 AM

brian reeder got close to a handlepass kgb 5 at wake the lake in north carolina

waketherainbow 06-03-2008 11:10 AM

Awesome! Jimmy mentioned that it was for a new video, anyone know which one??

dnp33 06-03-2008 5:29 PM

that was 100% legit! <BR>its awesome to see a new trick landed that nobody can dispute the name! <BR> <BR>then after he landed it was just like 'whats up? no big deal, i do it all the time' <BR> <BR>technically not new, but in a new way. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by dnp33 on June 03, 2008)

brinks 06-03-2008 6:41 PM

I'm pretty sure it is a video Adam E., Phillip S., Aaron R. and Jimmy L are putting together. Adam made a post about it awhile back.

brinks 06-03-2008 6:43 PM

I want to say it is called "The Chronicles of Gnarlia"

liquidmalibu 06-03-2008 6:58 PM

They were thinking of calling it that, but then someone mentioned a snowboarding video has already been called that, so they decided to re-think the name

samthomson 06-03-2008 7:11 PM

they were filming today and bob soven landed a tantrum FS 3

wakeworld 06-04-2008 11:01 AM

I just got a text from Jeff Weatherall and he said that Dean Smith just landed one out in the flats! Harley Clifford caught it on video, so we'll have that for you soon. Again, how cool is that?

liquidmalibu 06-04-2008 5:11 PM

Dean reckons, he'll be able to land a kgb 7 soon. <BR>apparently he over rotated on a kgb 5 attempt and got excited. <BR> <BR>I reallly hope he does.

maliburider456 06-04-2008 5:37 PM

a tantrum fs 3? thats crazy! isnt it called a brisky dick. i thought the only person to land that was dave briscoe

alevitt 06-04-2008 8:43 PM

A brisky dick? Please!!! Let's make trick names a little more gay, shall we?

jimmy_lariche_ 06-04-2008 9:09 PM

Its called the billion dollar baby! Bob soven took the initiative to name it.. He grabs it nose before he passes the handle, its unreal looking. We will post video of it soon!

wakeworld 06-04-2008 9:18 PM

Here is Dean Smith's KGB 540: <a href="http://wakeworld.com/galleries/getimage.asp?galleryid=600&amp;imageid=14" target="_blank">http://wakeworld.com/galleries/getimage.asp?galleryid=600&amp;imageid=14</a>. Thanks to Dean, Harley Clifford, Jeff Weatherall and Austin Hair for bringing this clip to you!

blake_hughes 06-04-2008 9:34 PM

Damn... That's pretty big!

lives2wake 06-04-2008 9:38 PM

For sure! <BR> <BR>I would really like to see it grabbed though.

waketherainbow 06-04-2008 9:41 PM

That was insane!! Was that the trick he was trying in the double or nothing competition this year??

srh00z 06-04-2008 9:55 PM

This is kind of like the story behind the original KGB, a race to see who could land the KGB 5 W2W first.

liquidmalibu 06-04-2008 10:29 PM

To right Stephen, i wonder if Rathy or Dean were aware of each others attempts? <BR> <BR>...Hows Deans knees? he seems to do everything rather large and with a raley cut.

jhilltn 06-05-2008 8:01 AM

dean's = twice as big and just as clean.
