I saw that on CNN, that was nuts.

Two great white sharks swimming in the ocean spied survivors of a sunken ship. "Follow me son" the father shark said to the son shark and they swam to the mass of people. "First we swim around them a few times with just the tip of our fins showing." And they did. "Well done, son! Now we swim around them a few times with all of our fins showing." And they did. "Now we eat everybody." And they did.
When they were both gorged, the son asked, "Dad, why didn't we just eat them all at first? Why did we swim around and around them?"
His wise father replied, "Because they taste better without the **** inside!"


Being in SW Florida I feel I would rather ride with sharks than gators.

Just can't trust a gator. Gators is sneaky.

But thats just me.

Thanks, I'm sure that'll hang in the back of my mind even when I'm in a L-A-K-E this weekend. Feel something brushing against my leg already!!

I heard him interviewed, and he said he just wanted to start paying attention to what was under the water. So if he all of a sudden decides to look under, and see 2 great whites, maybe its time to stop looking, or stop surfing, at least there.

Surfing in california growing up in SoCal, you could never see below you. Water was murky, and sometimes even a lot of kelp in places. I went to hawaii a couple of time, and it really wigged me out a few times watching what was down there. I remember paddling through a deeper area to get to the break and watching 2 sharks swim beneath me. I never got used to that. Then one time I was surfing alone at C street in ventura. I know you shouldn't do that, but I shouldn't have been ditching school either. It was the best way to get good waves, no one was around. I am paddling into a wave, bring my arms in just about to drop in and turn my head right, there was a large fish and dorsal fin, about 6-8 feet long, but close enough to touch and in the wave. I seriously thought I was going to have a heart attack, spooked the hell out of me. It was a dolphin. But that split second, I thought it was a shark coming at me.

Getting eaten just doesn't seem fun.

The extra elevation allows people to see what's always been around them.

I knew it wasn't a regular surfboard, and he was way past break, wasn't sure it was paddle or wind, but here is that interview.

I wasn't paying that close of attention, it wasn't on my list of priorities. But I posted the video.

hehe, didn't see it at first but just noticed the nuclear reactor San Onofre in the background. There have been numerous sitings of white shark around that area for some time now, just south of Old Man's at San Onofre State Beach.

Still proof to me that white sharks are not mindless eating machines. The ones in the video appear curious but not aggressive. Don't take my comments as though I would happily jump in the water with them though however I have never left the water because I got spooked by shark thoughts.

I didn't ask about your priorities. I just suggested that you actually watch the video that you posted since it was obvious that you didn't understand what was being shown in the vid.

They are typically juvenile great whites at San-O. Juveniles are still at the fish eating stage, so they tend to be more curious than anything else re: people. THe adults are the ones that mistake a surfer for a sea lion and attack. The newest train of thought is that they breeding ground for great whites is northern Baja and southern california, and southern california tends to be where the juveniles stay until they grow large enough to compete with the adults. just info from a buddy of mine who works up in Santa Cruz for the GW project.

I had read that Tomales Bay was considered a possible nursery. Which is one of the reasons so may attacks in that area in the fall.
