Hey guys, I've been out wakeboarding about 6 times.. I can do a surfice 180 to either foot pretty easily now, and I'm getting better at riding switch. <BR> <BR>I've been trying to Ollie for a couple of days.. I just cant seem to do it.. I fall on my face/ear HARD.. would it be easier for me to start working on attempting to get some air off the wake before I try to learn how to Ollie?

OLLIE: push down on your front foot first then pop up. It feels weird at first, but keep doing it and it will click.

Hehe that helps a bit.. i've been crouching down and just jumping up like I would on dry land <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0> I'll try to build tension on my front foot next time i go out.

front foot????? front foot then back foot? Ive just been doing back foot but then again I need help getting more air with my ollies.

Yeah front foot first, like Ronia says it does feel weird but you get the hang of it, also Daniel if your falling on your face your leaning to far forward, lean back just a little when you ollie and that will help your landings.

Cool thanks for the help guys, I'll come back once I get a chance to try it out.. I'm gonna take a wakeboarding break for a few days, I think i took one too many crashes to the face, feeling a ton of preassure in my ear's <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/sad.gif" ALT=":-(" BORDER=0> <BR> <BR>Another question I was gonna throw out at you guys, how realistic is it for a Beginner/intermediate rider to clear a w2w jump on a 100 hp outboard fish/ski boat with no tower/pylon? it's a ~17-18 Ft Sea Ray.

you should be able to easily clear it, you dont need a tower and you dont need a wakeboard boat. Its all your technique, so dont blame it on the boat. I have a crappy boat too with no tower and i can do it and im a beginner so youll be able to do it. Have fun!

I dont ollie realy high but think of this in science if you want to jump up the best way is to push on your front foot then this causes the board to do something it dosent want to so it pushes up so push down with your front foot then pull up like you would on a skate board i think thats how i do it but thats just me any one know how to get big air ollie let me know i only get a foot or so

Push the front of the board down first then push the back, it puts more surface area of the board on the water so there is more to push against giving you more air.

im pretty bad and the last time i was out, i was able to clear the wake. its probably easier that i wasnt using a real wakeboard boat. you dont go very high. just hit the wake as hard as you can. it took me quite a few times out to fully commit to hitting it, but once you do, its no big deal.

the ollie drill that the wakeboard camp teaches is first to pump your front leg. you lift your front knee a couple times and that gets the board to lift sink lift sink etc. next lift the front and push down on the back leg. since you pushed down now the board will come back up. lift your shoulders matched with the lift of the board. <BR> <BR>u can cut out with some speed to the flats level off and try this <BR> <BR>i was trying to teach this to my sister all summer. our coach broke it down this way and she ollied right away

You are probably faceplanting because you are rocking too far forward and catching a front edge. Forget about the putting the weight on the front foot thing for now. Try what Tim Latchford above is talking about. <BR> <BR>Push up and down down quickly with your back leg and let your front leg relax and come up with the front of the board every time you push the back down. If you do this, you will see the front of board kinda hop up and down. To make an ollie, just push down hard with your back leg and pull the front of the board up. Immediately suck both of your knees up towards your chest and the board will leave the water momentarily. That is an ollie. <BR> <BR>When you want to pop higher and harder you can start doing the rocking motion and stuff, but for starters just drive the back of the board down hard and then raise your front knee followed by the back knee.
