I am loving all of the pictures of the new Tige. I would like this thread to be dedicated to pictures and wake pics of this boat. If you have one... take as many pics as possible... storage... hull... etc.... I have always liked the Tige interiors... dating back to their Tige 21v Riders... I know there are other posts on this boat... but since the boat shows are on... I would like to see pics... another month before I see one at the Vancouver boat show.

big_brandon 01-16-2007 8:20 PM

Kyle, hit <a href="http://www.texastige.com" target="_blank">www.texastige.com</a> , go to showroom, and then new boats. We have a couple of sweet ones on there. Click on the pics of the boat and it will bring up thumbnails to check out. Let me know what you think.

sulmaxwell 01-16-2007 8:54 PM

it baffles me how much it attempts to mimic the XSTAR

oaf 01-16-2007 8:57 PM

Sul Let it go. We have all heard it 10000000000 times before.

oaf 01-16-2007 10:07 PM

Sorry, No LED's this year. I am just a happy and proud new owner. Don't worry it will wear off in a short time.

ponte_06_x2 01-16-2007 10:09 PM

im just messin with u. congrats on the boat

hamkj 01-16-2007 10:12 PM

Great start. Love the pics. I am in the midst of designing and building a boat for my own personal use.. and possibly put into production... <BR> <BR>I will apologize to Sul and many others who are critical about mimicing other boats... <BR> <BR>I will have to apologize in advance... because the boat will be made of fibreglass... sorry if it is copying other manufacturers... it will have a hull like most others... it will have a steering wheel... a motor... rudder... etc... yes it will have everything all the other boats have... if that is copying... I will apologize now... <BR> <BR>All I know it is going to break the bank... be cutting edge... it will have features that no other boat has... but it will be mine... which at the end of the day... is all that matters... <BR> <BR>I do love the RZ2 though!!!

I am an MC owner and a fan of that boat. They look pretty nice. Sure it stole the front off the MC line, but MC had a good idea, and it was just a matter of time until it was duplicated.

that's a GOOD looking wake IMO.

tonality 01-18-2007 10:28 AM

woah, what's with the Aeron chair?! Is that a custom job, or something you can pick up from Tige?! That's slliiiiick!

will5150 01-18-2007 10:38 AM

I love that driver's seat- reminds me of my Hermon Miller Desk chair!

pierce_bronkite 01-18-2007 10:54 AM

tony, is called the Vision Air Chair its standard on the RZ2 and can also be ordered on other Tige models. Its very comfortable and it also has a flip up bolster seat. The back and seat area somewhat similar to a Herman Miller chair.

oaf 01-18-2007 11:00 AM

I will second on how nice the Vision Air seat is. It is very big and comfortable. I also have it with a piston to adjust the height of the seat. My wife is 4'11" so it needs to move up so she can see over the dash.

intotheflats 01-18-2007 11:44 AM

that vision air seat looks really nice. does the mesh make it any cooler? and do you know if it can be installed on any 07 tiges? thanks

Looking at the pic of the engine compartment with the ballast tanks behind it....how do you get at the impellor?

big_brandon 01-18-2007 1:09 PM

There is actually quite a bit more space than that pic shows. <BR> <BR>Pierce, sweet looking color scheme. <BR> <BR>josh, yes, it can be installed on any of the Tige models. <BR> <BR>Brannon, nice pics of the "Z" boats at the show...

pierce_bronkite 01-18-2007 1:32 PM

I sell cobalts and we had one of these in the showroom got them in, in 2001 as a 2002 model. X-star came out with the picklefork in 2003. A man by the name of Peter Granada came out with the concept boat for cobalt called the 240SD (above). Not shortly after MasterCraft had Peter integrate the same concept into a wakeboard boat. In the marine industry, when a good idea is put into production, most other companies follow, i.e. the tower, correct craft was first to put a tower on their boats, and even things as simple as a platform. So lets give this who copied who thing a rest because everyone in the boating industry gets ideas from each other. <BR>Thanks

grant_west 01-19-2007 8:31 AM

Thats pretty funny. I had no Idea the Cobolt and the MC were so close.

psudy 01-19-2007 8:56 AM

Hey Jon, <BR>Since you sell Cobalts, can you get a swim platform for a 2001 292 twin? I talked to a local dealer and he said they were not available. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by psudy on January 19, 2007)

faceplanter69 01-19-2007 10:05 AM

I was under the impression that the Cobalt and the MC came out around the same time period and were designed around the same time? What John said is also correct, designed by the same person. <BR> <BR>I've often wondered why more companies don't used the same bow design. It is by far the best way to go hands down.

mrm2083 01-19-2007 10:20 AM

What engines does tige use, indmar, pcm, mercruiser? I like the look of that engine.

akdoc 01-19-2007 10:30 AM

That's a Vortec engine, made by GM.

justridin 01-19-2007 10:31 AM

If we were giving Kyle advice on how the boat he plans to build will look, would we tell him it should be a picklefork design? <BR> <BR>He says it is just for him, but I am guessing he is still thinking about what the market would want.

mrm2083 01-19-2007 10:35 AM

Damn talk about a resemblance lol. Why isn't cobalt using the pickle fork any more?

justridin 01-19-2007 10:36 AM

The engine company that Tige uses is Marine Power <a href="http://www.marinepowerusa.com/whymarinepower.html" target="_blank">http://www.marinepowerusa.com/whymarinepower.html</a> <BR>Like the others they start with the GM Vortec engine and marinize it in their own way. I believe they have been big in river boats and go fast stuff before doing towboat motors.

woreout 01-19-2007 10:37 AM

Johndoe, I think there is a lot more than the just the front end that looks like the XStar ie; windshield, tower legs etc. The picklefork is just the first thing people point out. Do you know why they made it without removable carpeting?

fullspeed 01-19-2007 11:32 AM

The Tige' thread turns into the Master Craft thread go figure. I don't think that TZ2 looks anything like the Master Craft boat. Pickle Forks boats have been around for a long time. If it makes certain MC owners feel better because they think they are the trend setters then cool. Yeah for you. <BR> <BR>I think John Doe is right when he said they all get ideas for eachother. Who cares as long the end result is a better product. <BR> <BR>Who invented the wheel? Who cares, but thank god someone did.

oaf 01-19-2007 11:51 AM

Well at least the next time an MC guy comes on here poping off about copying the X-Star we can just point to the Colbalt pictures above. whocares 01-19-2007 2:20 PM

Billy I'm really not sure why they made that boat without removable carpeting, its not a feature I like very much. And Paul, about the swim platform, I talked to my service manager and he is waiting on a return call from them. In the meantime you can email me at <a href="mailto:dtay0421@yahoo.com">dtay0421@yahoo.co m</a> with any more questions. And Manny, I am not sure why cobalt dropped the pickle fork idea either. I wish they would bring it back, I really like how it opens the bow.

mrm2083 01-19-2007 4:17 PM

If they had snap in carpet I would've considered that boat.

timmylikewake 01-19-2007 8:08 PM

Snap out carpet is great. They need to offer it. As far as that green boat, looks cool but what about resale value? The only reason MC people complain about the RZ2 is because its a threat. You wont hear anything about the F23. Malibu puts out anti Tige ads. Tige is an up and coming threat. That being said Tige has a good amount of kinks to be worked out and a couple style issues to deal with. Point is their on a great track after 15 or so years, and that scares people.

hamkj 01-19-2007 8:38 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong... but up here in Canada... When the X-Star was suppose to be unveiled... it wasn't available for the Vancouver boat show... so MC was telling us to go look at the Cobalt... because it was taken fromt he same mold... and they are made in the same factory... or something to that effect... <BR> <BR>As for picklefork... its not about copying someone elses design... it is about what the market wants.. and what is functional and marketable... Every boat on the market resembles its competitors... <BR> <BR>If manufacturers can take a design and feel they can improve it.. then all the power to them... ie... wakeboard tower... tower speakers... wake plates... v-drives... seating configurations... <BR> <BR>If you weren't able to change.. we would be stuck with the same old boring boats... which I would be okay with... as long as they maintained the $10k price tag.. ahhaha....

ryan27r 01-19-2007 8:51 PM

The fact that he says we copied somthing and then we improved on one of the best wakeboarding boats in the industry. What in the Fbomb is wrong with this picture

timmylikewake 01-19-2007 10:30 PM

I guess whats wrong is that you got mad about a boat design.

justridin 01-20-2007 8:16 AM

Ryan, <BR> <BR>You opened that conversation with the salesman suggesting that the RZ was a copy of the mc. By your account that was not his statement and I know that this is not the opinion of Tige Boats Inc. Maybe his answer was not as well thought out as it could have been, but if it was enough to "piss you off beyond belief!" I am sure he was not going to talk you out of your '07 SSV and into an RZ, no matter how he answered.

sinkoumn 01-20-2007 8:59 AM

From seeing the RZ for the first time I agree with people in that it looks VERY similar to the X-star. Not just the picklefork, but the lines and especially the tower reminded me of the X-star. <BR> <BR>Not trying to knock or anything, I just had that impression the first time I saw the boat at the show.

big_ed_x2 01-20-2007 9:38 AM

<blockquote><hr size=0><!-quote-!><font size=1><b>quote:</b></font><p> The only reason MC people complain about the RZ2 is because its a threat.<!-/quote-!><hr size=0></blockquote> <BR> <BR>As a matter of fact,I think it's the ultimate compliment to MC. <BR> <BR>It is not cheaper then the X-star so there is no threat there.

talltigeguy 01-20-2007 9:43 AM

Ryan now understands why the RZ2 will be better than the X-star: it has the features of the X-star and not the disadvantages, mostly the tendency to take water over the front. I've been in both, and would much rather have an RZ2. <BR> <BR>Ed, <BR>You can get a nicely loaded X-star for 62K? Please clarify. I've never seen one for that price. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by talltigeguy on January 20, 2007)

big_ed_x2 01-20-2007 9:51 AM

Depends on the loaded but yes for 66k! <BR> <BR>A few xtra grand that you MIGHT spend will come back in resale.

big_brandon 01-20-2007 10:24 AM

Not to add fuel to the fire, but resale should always be looked at in a percentage basis. If it is looked at like that, tiges have one of the highest resales in the market. <BR> <BR>If you paid $10,000.00 more for a certain brand, you should expect to get that amount back at resale, if you only get back $5000.00, then your resale percentage is less. <BR> <BR>I see this in my market all the time, a competitors salesman trying to convience a potential customer that their boat has the highest resale value, by only showing sale price instead of resale percentage. When the shopping customer comes in my shop, and I show resale as a percentage, the salesman is proved wrong, and I prevail as the straight shooter. <BR> <BR>Morale to the story: Don't let the salesman blow smoke!!!! <BR> <BR>Note to competitors salesman: Keep using that sales tatic, because I'll nail you everytime....

big_brandon 01-20-2007 10:31 AM

Oh yeah, if you have'nt driven, or ridden behind a RZ2, try it, and tell me it's not one of the BEST handling/performing boats on the water, not to mention, throws as nice a wake, if not nicer than 90% of the boats on the water. And I am not talking about a "Z" boat without weight, let's weight that Bad Girl down and see what she gots.... <BR> <BR>Compare apples to apples.

whocares 01-20-2007 11:13 AM

Cobalts and MC ARE NOT BUILT IN THE SAME FACTORY. Cobalt is in Neodesha, KS and MC are built in Tennessee. Kyle you have been corrected. Cobalt yachts are made in the city as MC NOT the same factory. LARGE difference. Big Ed, Please give me contact information for a place to buy a loaded NEW X-Star for $66k. Brandon you are correct on the Tige resale percentage, one of the highest on the market.

99_slaunch 01-20-2007 11:21 AM

There are things I liked and disliked about both the MC and Tige. big_brandon 01-20-2007 11:45 AM

This is an X-2's "Boat Show Special Price", and I would not consider this particular boat "loaded". The X-Star this dealer had, was "Boat Show Special Priced" at $78,000.00. <BR> <BR>Aaron, when I look at all boats, there is always something that I like or dislike about them, or things I would like to take from one and add to the other. The only way to combat this never ending battle, is to start your own boat company/manufacturing facility, and build YOUR boat. But I do understand exactly what you are talking about.

99_slaunch 01-20-2007 11:57 AM

I like the front of the tige (pickle fork) much better than the MC. I thought the passenger side seating was a little plain on the Tige. Overall I liked the Tige better. I told the sales guy for Texas Tige I was not a buyer that I was just taking some pics for WW and he still spent a good amount of time with me talking about the RZ2. Supra is the boat for me but the new Tige is hot.

oaf 01-20-2007 12:00 PM

It is funny how someone just wants pics of a boat and it turns into this again for the 1,00,000 time. <BR> <BR>Look don't compare the RZ2 and X-Star! They are two totally different animals. The X-star rides like crap in anything but glass and the RZ2 rides very well in chop. The X-Star puts out a superior wake to the RZ2 (although I have not been in a nicely weighted RZ2 yet). The X-Star is more of a hard core wake boarders boat where ride will be sacrificed over wake quality as the RZ2 is more of a family oriented boat that puts out a nice wake but has a great ride for driving around all day. I think both boats are very well built and are top notch. Overall you need to figure out what YOU need in a boat and buy that boat. I demo MC, BU, and Tige and I bought a Tige with MC being my least favorite (X-30 and X-15) because they were hard to drive and didn't do well in rougher waters. The BU was better and drove like a dream, but the new RZ2 addressed my needs the best. Just like the X-Star or any other boat will address a persons individual needs. Fact is because this has become the year of the pickle fork if you may, the MC people are up in arms. Once you get in a bow that has more room you see why the pickle fork front is so nice. More room and more storage what is not to like. Just remember if you like a boat great, but lets not keep getting on here like a bunch of Trolls looking to stir the pot. <BR> <BR>Off the soap box!

big_brandon 01-20-2007 12:04 PM

Thanks for the shout out Aaron, if you are ever up in the Woodlands, swing into the shop, I would love to shoot-the-bull with ya. I am the owner of the dealership, and a local rider(have gone to the skate for the last couple of years). Texas Tige prides itself in being Rider Owner and Operated and having the Third highest CSI score for all Tige dealers Worldwide. <BR> <BR>Thanks again for the positive comments on the RZ2, we are kill'in it with it, and the great pics of our boats at the H-Town boat show. I'll see you on the Water.....

big_ed_x2 01-20-2007 7:17 PM

Confession: <BR> <BR>I haven't been to this years boat show so I don't know what the X-star costs right now. <BR> <BR>I know when I was looking to buy my boat in 04'the huge price difference is what engine you actually get in the boat. They were some X-stars in the mid 80k but these are the x-stars that come with the big block or the LQ9 which is not even an option on the Tige so this is what I meant by "depends on the loaded" <BR>From what I know and seen above, the "upgraded engine in the RZ2 is the 340 GM vortec which is smaller then the smallest engine you can get in the X-star. <BR>The 66k WAS a demo but it had only 20hrs on it. <BR> <BR>This dealer that I got this price at was California Skier in Elsinore and will gladly say WILL buy my next boat there.(most likely an X-star)

lcky275 01-20-2007 7:34 PM

If you ask nicely you can get a 8.1 on a tige ;) MP has them

faceplanter69 01-20-2007 7:45 PM

I was at a boat show recently and saw that the new X-2 now comes with at trim tab? <BR> <BR>Back on topic <BR> <BR>I don't know if Tige has improved the X-star. They have made the boat into a boat that handles very well compared to the X-star. The Tige has more room in the cockpit area and handles better. I'll say the Xstar wake is still hands down more fun to ride behind and the X-star has twice the storage the Tige has. <BR> <BR>I think they're going after two differnt markets myself.

Faceplant, <BR> <BR>I think that you need to recheck your figures on the storage space comment. That is way off the mark. I would be willing to bet the RZ2 has more storage, not likely by much, but it likely does.

I'll reserve my remarks on the wake until someone sacs out an RZ2 with over 3K ballast, like everyone does to get a good wake out of the X-star.

xaggie 01-21-2007 8:04 AM

Hmm my X-Star rides like crap in anything but glass... I'll have to keep that in mind the next time I'm coming across Travis on Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for the heads-up!

Well I've never ridien in an RZ2, but I just got back from the Minneapolis boat show and I have to say, I really didn't think the "finish" was on par for what they were askig for the RZ2- it was pretty well loaded- but $ 71K on sale- are you out of your mind????? The fully loaded x-stars are LESS!! In fact, I didn't see an equivalently equiped, same size boat at the show that was this highly priced. I am VERY worried that the dealer in Minneapolis is going to screw Tige's reputation and marketability in this area. Malibu and Mastercraft dominate the area and right now, I think they have a better product for the money- it's hard for me to say that as a Tige owner...

talltigeguy 01-21-2007 2:56 PM

The Portland show had the RZ2 nicely equipped at 63K, so I would have to agree with wondering what the Tige folks up North are thinking. <BR> <BR>I have been through the channel at Lake Powell with an X-star and my Tige (nearly the same running surface as the RZ2). You can guess who broke trail for who in the real rough stuff. The X-star just about rattled it's occupants teeth out.

I picked up my RZ2 for just under $60K loaded minus the stereo. To do a nice stereo would run about $62 to 63 K. No way it should run over $65 unless you are doing a major engine upgrade.

I find it absolutely comical that you Tige guys have become the people you were making fun of earlier in the thread. I can only assume that for some reason you guys feel the need to bag on the "rough water" abilities of the X-Star to justify why you bought your boats? You don't want to stir the pot and yet you tell me my boat rides like crap? Hmmmm. I bought my boat for my own reasons I don't need to sell it to anyone here. Might as well go work for Brandon, though I doubt he would have you with the purely subjective dribble you spout needlessly.

I am not a Tige' guy, and for sure not a MC guy. Maybe the Tige' guys are alway tired of MC guys acting like their shi$ don't stink. Why is it that every thread that has to do with other boat manufactures ends up being a MC thread on how good their boat is. Who cares you spent more than us, I could buy your boat if I wanted to lower my standards too. Yeah Mc has a higher resale value so when you figure out that you should of bought a better boat at least you don't take in the A$$ so much. Good for you. <BR> <BR>That comical to me.

wakeinator 01-21-2007 7:07 PM

I saw one of these on the 405 the other day, it was a pretty sweet boat. I have been lurking around on this site for about a month on and off, not really a huge wakeboarder but have gone a few times and am becomming a fan pretty quick. Im not sure why you guys fight about the different boats, I think they are all pretty nice not that I could ever afford one. I think it would be cool just to own a nice boat.

big_brandon 01-21-2007 8:06 PM

xaggie, Thanks but no thanks, we're not hiring. <BR> <BR>C/O '96, how but you?

big_ed_x2 01-21-2007 8:58 PM

Kadin, good post and sometime I ask myself the same question. These are all nice boats!I just think after spending so much money in a given brand people(human race)want to justify spending 40k+ b/c they feel in their heart of heart they got the nicest boat. <BR>I think any boat that gives you zero problems is the best boat.I think people get numb after a while spending so much time in their brand new boat that they really forget to appreciate how cool of a toy you actually got regardless of the brand.I had just as much fun in my ski centurion(when it ran)as I do in my MC.

will5150 01-22-2007 5:54 AM

Coach- that's what I would have thought the boat was going for. The one in Minneapolis had the factory ballast, a nice stereo, the same cool driver's seat you have and was running the Vortec 340 ( I believe). they didn't show the trailer, but I am assuming an Extreme with nothing too special. This dealer has only had the line for 2-3 years and last year they only brought ONE Tige to the show and it wasn't even the VE! This year they had three boats and a factory rep there- different guy from last year though too. I don't know man, it sure looks like they're not too committed. What I also don't get is that there's another Tige dealer just 40 miles north of MIneapolis that doesn't go to the show- maybe they should team up! <BR> <BR>And EVERYONE- stop bangin' on each other's boats- they're all nice and they ALL had their issues from time to time so knock it off.
