eubanks01 02-01-2008 7:48 AM

I saw this on Chad's blog. I know these guys run a lot of weight, but it's crazy to see a picture of the setup! So that looks like 3 750's and that doesn't count the 1,250 stock and whatever they have in the bow and trunks.

So even if those 750's aren't full you are talking about well 3,000 pounds BEFORE the trunk and bow sacks. Wow.

jarrod 02-01-2008 7:55 AM

Is he riding an LSV?

eubanks01 02-01-2008 7:56 AM

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it's an LSV.

vlxray 02-01-2008 8:02 AM

I thought that Chad had a VLX. The wake must be massive with all of that weight, kind of like Gerry Nunn's LSV. That thing looks like it would easily sink it sits so low in the water.

jarrod 02-01-2008 8:02 AM

Well, even in an LSV, that's huge. He may prefer the wake with no wedge and substitutes with more water weight.

liquidmx 02-01-2008 8:28 AM

The funny part is you KNOW there is a bunch of lead in there too. YOu can see what looks like a bag right behind the drivers seat.

I would imagine he is running the 8.1 with a 1235?

romes 02-01-2008 8:28 AM

hahahahha....thats awesome

denverd1 02-01-2008 8:30 AM

and something in the bucket, centered up. too bad no wake pics..

jward10 02-01-2008 8:31 AM

It would depend on the size of the boat. I have ridden behind the 21.5 and 23ft BU's several times and the 23 wake with the wedge down and ballast full is about like the 21 with no ballast and no wedge. the 23ft wake just doesn't have any vert on it unless you add alot of weight.

seattle 02-01-2008 8:33 AM

Ehh... that's nothin. Rookies

andy_nintzel 02-01-2008 8:34 AM

Bahahahahahahahahahahah

socalwakepunk 02-01-2008 9:10 AM

Doesn't look that bad to me. I guess it's all relative to the amount of weight you are used to running with.

ttrigo 02-01-2008 9:13 AM

is Chad wearing shorts over a wetsuit in that picture? hard to tell.

I think all the pro's run similar setups. I think I remember reading something about Andrew Adkisons set up, and it was similar to the above picture. (no, not Cliffs pic)

eubanks01 02-01-2008 9:27 AM

Yeah, I guess for pros it's not a big deal. We run 3K at times in my WSLSV and I don't think the wake is all that big with only a couple of people in the boat. I could definitely see it benefiting from another 1,000 pounds!

dan_k 02-01-2008 9:29 AM

keep the fuel tank topped up too haha

scott_a 02-01-2008 9:41 AM

The tower, windshield and dash layout are of a VLX. Either that, or Chad convinced Malibu to make him an LSV without the old layout. Maybe that's Kevin Henshaw's VLX, because it's also got a LF logo on the rearview mirror.

deltaridah 02-01-2008 9:47 AM

ya it sure does look like he has shorts over his full suit.

alevitt 02-01-2008 10:00 AM

That's definitely not Chad's boat with the Monster stickers all over it. Chad's sponsored by Rockstar. Probably Henshaw's boat and I'm pretty sure he has a VLX.

ralph 02-01-2008 10:10 AM

Got carbon foot print? Ha ha. Thats awesome, if I had the resources I would rock that for sure.

wakeboardlasvegas 02-01-2008 10:10 AM

and i am pretty sure that it should become law that shirts always be worn over wetsuits at all times while wakeboarding or skating!

wakeeater 02-01-2008 11:23 AM

if you look closly you can see bare skin on the legs as hes squatting in the seat. sorry to dissapoint

ironj32 02-01-2008 11:41 AM

or it could be the inside of his shorts

guido 02-01-2008 12:33 PM

Propper... That's how you're supposed to load a boat.

harris 02-01-2008 12:55 PM

imagine what u could put in one of those new Epics (including the 4000 ballast and whatever u could fit in the boat) INSANE

johnsvt 02-01-2008 1:32 PM

I was told Chad was using an 06 VLX with the Hammerhead motor, at least up until this year. Chad's boat is currently for sale.

polarbill 02-01-2008 1:46 PM

I always love it when someone posts that pic of the 2001. Thanks Cliff.

bouvs 02-01-2008 2:29 PM

that is Henshaws Rig, has a liquid force logo in the mirror as well.

downfortheride 02-01-2008 2:45 PM

So they load the "S" out of their boats and get their moves dialed in, so in comps do they load the boats down as much or do they use factory ballast?

migs 02-01-2008 2:52 PM

dddaaaaammmmmmmmm....
thought I sacked the shi** out of mine.
looks like i should throw 2 more big sacks next time im out, so that there is absolutely 0 floor left to be seen.
Thats the right way to do it.

dnp33 02-01-2008 2:55 PM

they load it up but im not sure if its that much!

ttrigo 02-01-2008 2:57 PM

is that a 2001 or one of those B-52's that used to have neoprene interior?

noti_dad 02-01-2008 3:55 PM

I don't have a picture but last summer at Pateros Kilgus had the soo many sacs in his Malibu that the floor wasn't visible and they were double stacked in the back seat against the engine cover.

seattle 02-01-2008 4:55 PM

Now there's a wrap I like.

westsidarider 02-01-2008 5:26 PM

thats a great day of riding is what that is. i miss the days when i used to ride down in socal and it was rare to not have at least 3 grand in extra weight in the boat. big wakes make for big _____ tricks

hymaeringo 02-01-2008 5:29 PM

lf bling on rearview as well

mxflyer281 02-01-2008 7:50 PM

I went out and rode with Ruck and Watkins both were pushing out similar amounts Ruck was running about 5k in his. I was impressed with Watkins though in that new RZ4 he somehow got all the bags hidden

toby_yeo 02-02-2008 8:12 AM

yeah what happens when they go to an event then? and they run stock ballst at a pro tour or whatever? thats a huge different to what they'll be used too.

sinkoumn 02-02-2008 8:27 AM

Is that a little convex mirror pasted onto Chad's rear view mirror or is that just a reflection from the tower?

zburns 02-02-2008 8:39 AM

It looks like a spot mirror similar to what you put on cars to get rid of blind spots

srh00z 02-02-2008 8:58 AM

The amount of ballast in that 2001 is unreal. I would love to have seen the wake. I would put up with stepping over all those ballast bags to get to watch Sharpe and Rusty from the boat.

bstphen24 02-02-2008 9:51 AM

The thing on the mirror is a liquid force emblem. And if you have gone to see a pro tour stop, I think you would realize that these guys have no problem adjusting from the setup above to the setup used on the tour.

deltariderscom 02-02-2008 9:56 AM

I would also venture to say that they don't run stock ballast. have you seen an X-Star with just stock ballast .

westsidarider 02-02-2008 1:41 PM

ive ridden pro tour stops. they weight the boats as much and best as possible. most of the weight is hidden so they can get photogs and others in there.
