What binding would you recommend for my boat board (for folks who don't have their own board)?

Ideally it would be a value, adjustable (mens 10 to 12 or so), durable and easy to use.

CWB Mobes or Torques.

The CWB Torqs look nice at $199.

Are these LF Alphas any good at $229.

Alphas are great (higher end), but not really considered an adjustable binding.

gruelie 06-14-2005 9:46 PM

the alpha's are awesome but i would get an XL if you get these so lots of riders can fit into them

greatdane 06-14-2005 9:55 PM

Ya, the alphas seem nice and my friends may be worth the extra $30.

All my mooch friends tend to have size 10 to 12 feet -- since I wear 10.5, I will have to go try the XLs.

gruelie 06-14-2005 10:03 PM

the size chart says that they will fit 11-13 so i would try them on to see how they fit you b/c then you could also use the board and be happy with it.

The problem with the Alphas is they use the old Ultra SUCK footbed that really sticks to your feet. They can be difficult to get in and out of. If you take out a lot of newbies, they will hate the bindings. Make sure you get lots of lube with the Alphas.

gruelie 06-15-2005 8:09 AM

good point. I had Ultra's and my friends just didn't understand how to get them on and off. I still haven't heard the end of that one

You can look around on ebay. You can get a pair of '04 Sphynx's for cheap, look.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=47362&item =7163302067&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

If you're looking for a boot to fit a range of people & still provide good support, get the CWB Torq's pictured above. They have the same footbed as the Zeus/Boss/Krux and havea ton of hold down, just a little more ankle flexibility. The Alpha's will not fit the range of feet sizaes the Torq's will.

I have Mobe's from my wife's Lotus board for my "boat bindings" of course I got the L-XXL ones but everyone that has used them likes them. Hell I even rode in them once or twice just to see how they feel....I've ridden worse ;-)

srh00z 06-15-2005 11:14 PM

I have Torq's as my back up bindings, and I have also ridden Mobes, I wear a 13 and the Torqs are much more comfortable, in fact, I like them a little bit more than my Ions, but I have torn the Torqs about 3 times in one season.
