Weighting a Malibu VLX?

If you had 900lbs a lead to place through out a malibu 2004 VLX or a V-ride where would you put the wetight and how much?

Do you have any other weight in the boat? Factory ballast? Need more info, 900lbs isn't really a lot of weight for a VLX.

2010 vlx

I have the new body style VLX and I run about 600lbs of lead mid-ship, under the seats. I have the manual wedge (I'm in salt water) and 1250 ballast. If I scoot too much weight to the back it gets too lippy for my tastes.

Also, If it is just my wife and I, I will put a 500lb fat sac in the floor too.

I would maybe put 500 of your lead in the nose and get 2 500# v drive sacks . Then distribute the rest of your lead as needed. That would be a great set up!!

I have all the factory ballast tanks! 250 in rear lockers and 300lbs in the Belly...I also run the wedge.

I have a 05 vride, same hull as your vlx, and just picked up about 600 pounds of lead as well. In addition to the factory tanks and wedge i'm going to put half the lead in the bow and the other half midship. I usually put 3 or 4 people in the bow before I got the lead and this made for my favorite wake.

put about 300 each side in the rear, and put the rest in the bow, just try different setups, it takes more than once, and it will be to your preference, the 2004 is a WAKEMAKER :D

Thanks for the feed back! I am going to load her up this weekend...

Ride on...

I would put the majority mid ship and in the bow mainly because you don't have any bow ballast as it is. That will give you a nice rampy wake.

If you want a lippy wake, put more in the rear.

If you are set on the 900. Do 300 on each side in the rear and 300 in the front. If you want to go another rout get 2 750 sacs In rear locker and a 1250 triangle nose sack fill stock ballast and the wake will be massive.

^^^^Like your idea Aaron. My buddies 04 VLX we did the same thing. Wouldnt get out of the hole with the stock prop. In comes the ACME 1235. Now we got the power to get on plane, and the weight to boot, that wake is amazing. I can ride at 85ft back and its clean as can be!!
