- - Flip up bolster seat for Sanger V215 (http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=714251)

Sangers don't have a lot of bow rise, but my wife is 5'2" and is always sticking something on the seat when she drives to maximize visibility. The one feature we wish the boat had is the flip-up bolster. Anybody have a DIY solution?

The new Sangers have flip up seats. Call Sanger and see if you can order a new seat for your V215. My wife had the same problem.

The flip up seat on the new Sangers was the one thing I didn't like in the boat. It felt a little small. I'm not trying to say I have a massive ass, but it leaves a large gap between it and the back of the seat.

Unless I didn't have it in place properly, a DIY solution may work better.

That does look like a pretty bad design - I would think you would just sink back into the hole, or else you would just never be able to lean back and relax. Not that great if you do a lot of driving...

David-- This is what I did. I took cardboard and traced and cut out the same shape as the seat. Then I took the bow cushion out and took the two piece to an appolstry(spelling) shop. I got them to make a insert for the seat 3 inches thick and they matched the colors using the bow cushion. My wife is very happy. cost $145.00 Canadian, wife happiness, priceless

Rob.B That sounds pretty cool - I love that last line!

Any chance you could post a picture?

And does the new insert attach somehow, or does she just sit on it to hold it in place?

I might try this idea, so a little more info would be awesome. Thanks!

I called Sanger and it is only the 237 seat and it will cost about $400 for the new seat, which includes the entire seat not just stuff to mod yours. David's idea is not bad andmuch cheaper.

I do not have a picture but when she inserts it into the seat it stays. plus you are sitting on it so it will not go anywhere. When she is done driving, she just takes it out and puts it into the storage compartment. Works great. It is also cheaper then installing a new seat.

When I had my interior re-upholstered, I had the guy make a cushion to fit over the existing one by covering a piece of 4 or 5 inch dense foam with the same material I had my seats done with. It just cost about $25 and it works just like the one Rob mentioned above. The vinyl is not that expensive and he had the foam laying around.

Jman
