Hello to all!!!! Has anybody had problems with these idiots getting way to close to your boat while your children or friends are being pulled???? can you spell FULLY AUTOMATIC!!!!

jonb 09-03-2007 6:34 PM

I could have used one today at the lake. But there are only boats allowed on the lake. One time the rider falls as Im pulling him and there is a boat trying to cut between me and the shoreline, I was probably about 75 feet away from the shoreline. Good thing that I was paying attention otherwise I would have nailed them when I went to turn around. Then we had a boat surfing that was probably even closer. Not a good day today.

lfs56 09-03-2007 6:42 PM

hmm...i guess i never though of takin my p-ball guns out on the lake, might have to consider that <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

yep all the clowns were out in Jersey today too <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>paintball gun would be fun <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

GLAD YOU WERE PAYING ATTENTION,MY HATS OFF TO THE DRIVERS AND FLAG PEOPLE THAT MAKE THE RIDER THEIR #1 PRIORITY.aN AWESOME WEEKEND CAN BECOME OUR WORST NIGHTMARE IN A BLINK OF AN EYE.STAY SAFE WAKEWORLD

dlwsrider 09-03-2007 7:35 PM

its a good joke, but thats extremely unsafe,

mobius67 09-03-2007 8:06 PM

Haha, sometimes a good flip of the bird lets some people know how you feel. We had a guy crossing out wake with his SPEEDBOAT about 15 feet away from us. It was rude and he was just an ass. My buddy flipped the bird, and the guys all "oh s***" and drives away. I wish it was that easy for all of em.

wake_pirate 09-03-2007 9:46 PM

Be careful using a paintball gun. It like bringing a knife to a gunfight. A novel idea might just backfire, pardon the pun.

wakeboardertj 09-03-2007 9:50 PM

haha, paintballs are nothing, i was with my cousins at the river and they got nice and drunk and shot their spud cannon at seadoos, had a reach of 300 yards haha, definitley not safe <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/rofl.gif" border=0>

nowake 09-04-2007 5:21 AM

Had a jetski following ME while I was riding this weekend. I turned around and stared at them and they changed their line to not be directly behind me anymore. I'm sure they were close enough to read my expression. There's so many idiots here (Florida) there has been talk about requiring a boating license, like a drivers license. In the past I was against this, but it's seriously getting bad, especially on holidays, so I think now I support the idea of requiring a boat license as long as they allow the responsible kids to also get one.

dreevs 09-04-2007 5:52 AM

I have been wanting to do this for a while. Does anyone have pics ??

bird_dog0347 09-04-2007 7:15 AM

I was thinking the same thing this weekend... The idiots were out in FORCE this weekend. We had 3 separate wave runners come within 25ft of our riders. The first one, I screamed at and flipped the bird to trying to get him to go away... it was some punk ass little kid (prob. about 12-14) and instead of leaving, he just drove circles around the boat and rider. I called the sheriff's office and told them what he was doing and gave them the registration numbers. <BR> <BR>Another one of them was using a rented PWC and my friend owns the rental business. I spoke to him as we were loading up the boat and he yanked the guy off the water and kept his deposit and money. <BR> <BR>I am getting a paintball gun though to keep in the boat just for this reason though, they just don't seem to give a rat's ass.

ronnyboy27 09-04-2007 8:03 AM

I had someone on a jetski come so close to me I could have touched them. I thought about letting go and jumping on him. I was pissed but the person driving was insanely mad. I thought she was going to kill him. <BR> <BR>Instead I sprayed him with water and he left. Freaking rented jetski too.

colorider 09-04-2007 8:24 AM

I have a feeling if you start blasting people with a paintball gun, you are going to be in a heapload of trouble with the law. I can almost guarranty you that the person you are shooting at is going to get a ranger or cop after you. Just don't do it. A shot to the eye is going to blind the person, a shot in the ear is going to cause major damage. There is a reason paintball players wear protective masks. Your going to go to jail for assault and prob some other charges as well,

bmartin 09-04-2007 8:39 AM

OK, I hope no one is really serious about using paintballs to show errant PWCs how to safely operate their craft. Whip those out and you might give fiserhman an idea on how to handle us wakeboarders.

vin 09-04-2007 9:09 AM

i see jail time coming

aarond0083 09-04-2007 9:27 AM

Shooting a paintball gun at a jet ski is one of the dumbest things you could possibly do. <BR> <BR>Sure, it seems funny but I can tell you if someone shot at me, I'm coming after them regardless if I was doing something I wasn't supposed to on a jet ski.

txadam 09-04-2007 10:53 AM

Just get one of those water balloon launchers and attach it to the tower. Even better if you don't use water in the balloon, just use whatever weird substance you choose <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/proud.gif" border=0>

akasix 09-04-2007 11:44 AM

yeah bad idea for a paintball gun just whip your boat around and aim right for them like they are doing.Jail time will come but it sure does beat an injury or worse to one of my kids

bakes5 09-04-2007 6:45 PM

My cousin got knocked off a jetski at powell by a water balloon launcher from a few idiots in a houseboat. Ended up being life flighted out of Page to SLC but was luckily able to save the eye. <BR> <BR>Shooting crap a jetskiiers is pretty stupid no mater how stupid they are

ord27 09-04-2007 8:34 PM

I dont agree <BR>I think if a paintball gun with a short range is used..... <BR>the jetskier will/can only get hit if they are within an unsave distance behind a skier <BR> <BR>I believe any good attorney would win the argument

bakes5 09-05-2007 3:08 PM

Have you ever shot a paintball gun? They go a long way. Even if some dude is a couple of hundred feet behind your boat following you I'll bet you could hit him. With paint balls you just kind of walk the rounds into the target. I can pick coke cans off (and make them explode) from 50 feet all day long. I guarantee I could hit you in the face from 200+ feet if you stood still. It would take a few rounds but I could definitely do it. <BR> <BR>I guess that's why wake boarders are not held on retainer for legal counsel.

gobigorgohome 09-05-2007 3:35 PM

Quote: Just get one of those water balloon launchers and attach it to the tower. <BR> <BR>These suggestions are just getting more and more stupid. Aside from a potential legal situation, if you launch a water balloon and hit a jet skier all you're doing is wetting someone who is probably already wet. Now he thinks he's got a water fight on his hands, cue enormous amounts of spray being launched back at the boat by the jet skier. The boatowner is going to lose that one, especially with all those electronics in the boat.

ord27 09-05-2007 3:42 PM

no Bakes, I haven't <BR>if you are going to use one on jetskiers, you are going to have to dumb it down so it will only toss the ball 100 feet or so

bakes5 09-05-2007 4:45 PM

Hmmm. I came across like kind of a jerk in my last post...not my intention. Just wanted to get the point across that they shoot a long way and can do some damage....especially at close range. <BR> <BR> <BR>Anyways, maybe this could help <a href="http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/v-mads.htm" target="_blank">http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/v-mads.htm</a><a href="http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/v-mads.htm" target="_blank">http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/ground/v-mads.htm</a>

lfs56 09-05-2007 4:58 PM

what kinda gun you got Bakes?

colorider 09-05-2007 7:13 PM

Tell ya what cliff, I will "dumb down" my paintball marker and shoot you with it. at short range. No shirt on, just like a jetskier. After that, you can tell me if it is such a good idea while you sit there with bloody welts all over your body. quite possibly a lost eyeball as well. You will then see the light (maybe only out of one eye) that it is an uber stupid idea. And no lawyer is going to get you out of it if you get caught shooting someone off a boat. You are going to jail for assault with a deadly weopon, Shooting an airgun with intent to cause harm or death, and a few more that I can't remember off hand. Just say no

ord27 09-06-2007 6:51 AM

ok Andy <BR>but it does illustrate the frustration that we all feel about jetskiers <BR>my wife has been followed and almost hit <BR>and so has my 10 year old <BR> <BR>perhaps I don't understand paintball guns....but I'm ok with that <BR> <BR>my point was....that the jetskier couldn't have been hit....if he/she wasn't so close to the boat...that it was dangerous <BR> <BR>being hit by the "dumbed down" ball or a waterballoon or something else....just proves that the jetskier was to close <BR> <BR>none of it is a good idea....the laws ought to be written so that boats and jetskies aren't allowed on the same body of water

elicitwake 09-06-2007 7:27 AM

my cousin lost an eye to a paintball gun, if im on a jet skit no matter how dumb i am being and i get shot and happen to get hit in the eye and lose it, you can bet i am suing whoever shot me. dumb idea man. <BR> <BR>just flip them the bird and move on.

colorider 09-06-2007 7:48 AM

Cliff, <BR>Thank you very much for the added info. I can totally see your frustrations and the dangers involved. I do believe there are laws for the distance they can be from other boats and riders, but I think jetskiers just simply ignore them. I am lucky to have a lake that banned jetskiers. I guess just using a cell phone to call the rangers while it is happening would be a good idea.

jcv 09-06-2007 8:09 AM

Good lord, I hope most of you are just speaking tongue in cheek, and none of you are actually that stupid as to throw or shoot anything at anyone moving at those speeds. How many of us are ready to throw down after an idiot fisherman casts at a rider? I know I am. It's the same thing and just as dumb. No matter how stupid and careless a jetskier is being, it's not worth taking their eyesight over. If they do happen to hit a rider or your boat...well, then all bets are off. I'm all for letting them know how you feel though. The ol' back the f-off bird goes a long way to let them now they are in the wrong and could save a life down the road. The problem with jetskiers is not that they know they're being reckless and don't care, it's that they don't even know they're in the wrong to begin with. They don't understand the concepts of response time and stopping distance in the water, and don't get what the big deal is.

txadam 09-06-2007 8:39 AM

For the record, yes, I was being a bit tongue in cheek when I mentioned the balloon launcher. I would never intend to hurt someone else on the lake. They're all out there to have fun just like we are. I definitely throw the finger up and wave my arms to get them out of the way when they get too close, and that always seems to work. <BR> <BR> <BR>It is kinda funny imagining some jetskier getting nailed by a water balloon though <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

wazzy 09-06-2007 9:44 AM

>>It is kinda funny imagining some jetskier getting nailed by a water balloon though<< Jocko from Wake TV did a segment in one of his vids showing this... it was a joke but funny as hell

mucktoerider 09-06-2007 10:05 AM

Yhea...don't shoot. not cool! Over labor Day weekend.....I had a PWC buzzin my rider constantly. Told him to knock it off. He went away for 20 minutes, then came back and did it again. I wrote down his registration numbers and handed them to the DNR officer patrolling the lake that day. Not even 40 minutes went by, and he was buzzing my rider again. DNR pulled him off the lake nad impounded his PWC and took him to jail. I guess his blood alcohol level was pretty high. I guess that is why he didn't take the hint the first time I yelled at him. A few weeks before...i had fishermen who thought their aluminium boat was a PWC and was buzzing our wake at full throttle. They were minimum 15 feet from me. Again they were drunk. I just swampped them a couple times with slayash and they stopped. They slowed down and the dude stood up and gave me the bird and fell over the side. Way to funny. Saw the sheriff minutes later next to their boat.

ord27 09-06-2007 10:49 AM

somewhat tongue in cheek here <BR> <BR>my comments were more from a fantasy point of view....were a device existed that would do no harm.....but get the message across <BR> <BR>I too have used the cell phone <BR> <BR>but certainly...in front of the kids.....I dont cuss....flip the bird....nor would I launch something that would harm someone <BR> <BR>with that said....... <BR> <BR>when it is in real time, there isn't much that works <BR>you don't want the rider to fall or let go <BR>you can't circle back around while pulling <BR>and most times...the skier isn't watching you <BR> <BR> <BR>by the time you pick your rider up...the jetski is gone <BR> <BR>so, our "weapon of choice" is the video camera
