Picked up our new boat on Saturday!

We are the proud owners of a new 2010 Axis A22. It took 2 weeks to get the deal done which was mostly an issue with the bank. However Brian Roth at Tommy's worked with us every step of the way and basically bent over backwards to get this deal done as soon as humanly possible. Hell he even invited us over for the UFC fights last weekend while we were waiting on the bank.

We traded in our 2000 Supra Launch and picked up a beautiful black and grey axis. It has the raptor 400 engine in it which has so much power if you hammer on the throttle too much when pulling up a rider it is almost violent. I know this because my brother did this exact thing when I first got behind it to ride. My arms are still sore haha. It has the plug and play ballast kit which we haven't filled and used yet as we wanted to get the engine to 10 hours before we messed around with it. Luckily it has 10.1 hours on it now so we will be trying it out this weekend. I have been riding behind a friends 09 all season and just fell in love with it so it was a no brainer to pick up this boat when we decided to upgrade.

Here is a picture from when we picked it up. Unfortunately the other pictures are on my brother's camera and I haven't had a chance to get them yet.

nice color choice!

07-12-2010 10:42 AM

For sure more pics, but very very nice man! Congrats !

You are like me, just bought my 2011 Epic 23V all black, and pull it with a bright blue truck....looks like we both are in the market for something black to pull with. Well, maybe ! lol

bruizza 07-12-2010 10:42 AM

I forgot to mention that as soon as we got to the lake a storm rolled up with 30mph winds so we had to sit in the truck for half an hour waiting for it to pass. That was absolute torture!

migs 07-12-2010 11:10 AM

sick - congrats

silvermustang35 07-12-2010 11:16 AM

tampawake 07-12-2010 12:14 PM

Man I am loving the Axis more and more. Curious how many are out on the water. The A20 really intrigues me. This will be the year of the 20ft boat between Axis, Tige, and CC. Beautiful boat man congrats.

guido 07-12-2010 12:29 PM

Sweet man.... Nothing like that "new boat smell"

wade_lewark 07-12-2010 4:06 PM

I like the colors!... Same as mine! nice choice...

jjaszkow 07-12-2010 4:11 PM

Congratulations! That's one sharp looking ride. Love the color choices. You will enjoy this boat for sure.

Mark, I suspect there are around 250 out by now. I know that the 221st one was delivered in early June ;) .

bruizza 07-12-2010 5:33 PM

I figured you would like the colors Wade!

Mark I was told they made somewhere around 75-100 of them last year and 150 of them this year and already have orders for over 300 of them for next year.

silvermustang35 07-12-2010 8:02 PM

Mine was #153 and ours was built Feb 8-12 :) and I ran into owner 177 on vacation at a lake and his was built about a week after mine

jjaszkow 07-12-2010 8:16 PM

They've really been cranking them out. Like I mentioned earlier, I own #221 which was built May 21-27. Bruizza, do you know what number yours is?

bruizza 07-12-2010 8:38 PM

No but is there a way to find out? Is it part of the VIN? I can ask the dealer if they know.

jjaszkow 07-12-2010 8:44 PM

I believe it's the seventh through tenth digits of the HIN.

bruizza 07-12-2010 8:51 PM

Cool I will take a look and see what it says.

wakesurfer08 07-12-2010 9:07 PM

Awesome colors, LOVE the boat!!! Congrats!

burbanized 07-12-2010 10:08 PM

Tmannsx80 07-12-2010 11:42 PM

Congrats gorgeous boat!

ilikebeaverandboats 07-13-2010 12:30 AM

Right on, looks killer man!!! Lets see some pics of the interior.

Bruizza,
looks like the trailer is a little low on the tongue? or is that just me..

bruizza 07-13-2010 7:57 AM

I am not sure if it is sitting low or not. How would I determine this? Also are you talking about when it is hooked to the Avalanche or the Tundra?

cjh1669 07-13-2010 7:58 AM

You need more pics, ecspecially of the fully sacked out wake

alans 07-13-2010 8:01 AM

traditionally HIN's are numbered starting at 101, which means that boat number 221 is actually the 121st boat off of the line.

bruizza 07-13-2010 8:03 AM

I will make sure to get those pictures this weekend Chris.

cjh1669 07-13-2010 8:06 AM

Jody and I want to come up soon to ride with you guys up at horsetooth.

bruizza 07-13-2010 8:22 AM

Chris you know that you and Jodi are welcome anytime. Just let me know when you want to come.

cjh1669 07-13-2010 8:26 AM

Will do, probably won't be till next weekend at the earliest. We have a ton of plans this weekend

07-13-2010 8:39 AM

LOL that is sick setup with that black truck! I am looking for black just can't make myself buy something right now. Nice stuff man!!!

wake77 07-13-2010 8:55 AM

Really liking the Axis. Congrats on the new boat. Let's see some pics of the wake, when you start using the plug and play.

Not that I would even care, but I thought the Axis trailer came standard with low prof tires and rims. I think your trailer is the first I have seen with regular trailer wheels.

It seems like nothing comes standard on boats anymore....

bruizza 07-13-2010 9:01 AM

No that is an upgrade Jeremy. It seems to be an upgrade quite a few people purchase though.

Pics of the plug and play will be up after this weekend.

tampawake 07-13-2010 9:11 AM

There are lot of us regular guys out there that want a nice boat but cant pay 70k plus for it. Axis is on the right path. I hope they stay on it and don't all of a sudden start jacking pricing. I am really interested in the A20.

justsan 07-13-2010 9:17 AM

Dude, that color combo looks GREAT!!

They already plan on jacking the price of the A22, which I think is a big mistake.

tampawake 07-13-2010 9:26 AM

If it goes up too much people will buy a used BU, CC, MC etc. I get having a blinged up version like they did with the Vandal edition. Keep the base the same.

cjh1669 07-13-2010 9:27 AM

Exactly, when you start encroaching the 60K mark you start competeing with wakeboats that have luxury items. Most of the time the people who buy these boats buy them not only for the wakebaording but also how plush they are. The axis is a bare bones bad ass wake machine, not a luxury boat.

jjaszkow 07-13-2010 9:37 AM

Chris, whenever I've talked with Matt Bishop about features and engineering changes on the Axis A22, he's been very clear that their design process always takes cost into account. I suspect that the cost of materials and labor will likely cause the price to go up year to year, but that it will remain a much more affortable boat than the "luxury" boats.

cjh1669 07-13-2010 9:42 AM

From what I understand they thinnk they compete with the mooba xlv which is a bit more expensive, and I think it more competes witht he LSV than the XLV. I'm just guessing, but I bet the unexpected populartiy of this boat has caused malibu to rethink how it's sold and try to make more profit, whihc makes sense based on order numbers. That being said I think they wil price themselves out the market if they are not careful.

elc 07-16-2010 6:23 PM

Congrats bruizza. We have the hammerhead motor in ours - I believe its the same thing as the "raptor". We have had the boat a few months and have +100 hours on it, its been a great setup.

pip9ball 07-17-2010 7:21 PM

Nice looking boat! You might want to level out your trailer for towing. Your close on the Avalanche but real low on the black truck. Get yourself an adjustable drop hitch so you can fine tune. Towing with your trailer tongue low or high is murder on the torsion axles and tires.

-P

bruizza 07-19-2010 9:47 AM

Thanks for the info Pip I will get an adjustable drop hitch this week. That tundra has 33s and a 3 inch lift so I am guess that is the issue with it. The avalanche is stock as far as lifts go but sitting on 24s which make it sit higher than stock.

timmyb 07-28-2010 2:11 PM

Saw your boat up at Horsetooth this past weekend. Good looking boat, Congrats! Looked like you guys are getting a ton of use out of it too!

bruizza 07-28-2010 2:19 PM

Stop by and say hi next time. We try to get a bunch of riding in, in the morning and the evening. We spend a good portion of the day parked in the cove because as you know horsetooth is a madhouse from 10am-6pm on the weekends.

timmyb 07-28-2010 2:59 PM

If I'm up there again this year I will for sure! We joined Empire Res this year because we got tired of the crappy water at Horsetooth every weekend. I can't believe the difference!

bruizza 07-28-2010 3:15 PM

I am lucky enough to have some friends with boats on Standley lake so I get some decent riding in during the week then brave the masses at horsetooth on the weekends. We have been getting to horsetooth at 7am and you can ride until 10 but after that is trashed.
