O.K., So very important question. I am going to have a house built. It is not that expensive to have them extend my garage. Somthing like $40 a square foot. What is the length of the Sanger V-215 with trailor and swim step? What lenght,width, height of garage do I need to go with? The builer already recomended that I move the garage door header up 1 ft. so that make it 9' feet tall. The standard garage bay is 20'x10' with 8' door openings, I think. <BR> <BR>Also, might go with a 23' model someday, not nessarily Sanger. Any advice would be great

Are you building a tandem or 3 wide? Do you tow with a lifted truck?

with tower folded 8ft is fine 9ft better,(mines 7ft gives me just under 1 ich to spare) but 20 is not deep enough. the 215 is a 21ft'r. If you leave the swim step on and want room to walk around your board I would go with atleast 29ft deep esp since you are thinking of moving up to a 23ft. <BR> <BR>Remember you can't have enough space but you can get screwed and have to little..

8 foot openings are to narrow. needs to be a minumum of 10 feet wide. check your trailer width not the boat width. they are quit different. my garage is 24 feet deep with a ten foot wide finished opening with an 8 foot finished door opening hieght. i have to lower the tower and remove the platform. but it is not outside at any time except to play. the boat is an 05 malibu vlx, 21.5 feet long not including the platform.

karma 20x10 is 10ft wide which will give him about 1-2 inches on each side. 8ft he was refering to was height.

My garage has third bay that is 40' long. Perfect for my 22 ft. Don't have to take the platform off or fold in the tongue. Also leaves enough room to get around

thanks guys, the garage is 3 bays wide, and I ditched the lifted truck a few years back. So would 24' deep be enough? Or do I need 26'. (Just for the V-215)I don't need room to talk around, just don't want to take the swim step off everytime.

Make sure 1 bay is at least 26' deep and the second should be at least 22' for a full size truck.

If it matters, in lake havasu and the river area they are building alot of houses with 'boat deep' garages. Most of them are closer to thirty. <BR> <BR>You said it yourself, it's cheap. Spring for an extra couple of feet. You'd be suprised at what a little extra garage space does to resale.

Also, if it can be done, a little higher for tower clearance is worth every penny. My garage (in profile pic) is tall enough on one side to just clear the tower. I would have never built it, but now that I have it, it rules. I drive home, back the boat in, and I'm done. No taking stuff off, or folding down. <BR> <BR>IMO, folding the tower is tougher than taking of my swim platform.

Craig, <BR>My garage is 24x28 deep.My 215 fits with the teak deck 2" from back wall and the trailer hitch has about 8" clear up front.I have 10' ceilings and the tower has to be folded down.If your building new I would go as big as you can.I wish I could have done 28x30 now.

I had an 06 v215 in my 56ft x 30ft garage all spring and had just enough room to get to the workbench on the back wall. <BR> <BR>You said "The standard garage bay is 20'x10' with 8' door openings, I think." <BR> <BR>I have both a 12ft door and a 10foot door (width) Sure is a lot easier to back into the 12 foot door. "Standard" door height is 7 foot. Go to 9 foot if you think you will want a 23 footer some day.

i might have missed it, but what did yall say about a truck fitting in the garage? say an F250? height and width? sorry if you think this is a hijack.

With a 10 foot door you can leave the tower up which would be a huge plus. My building is only 23 deep and it sticks out the front several feet. It needs to be bigger than you think. <BR> <BR>I've always wanted to see a boat bay that was recessed about 1-2 feet so I could get into the boat easier. My parents garage is something like 14' x 30' <BR>with a 10' x 7' opening. And we can fit an 06 X star without taking off the platform or swing in the toungue. We also have storage racks in the rear of the garage that probably take up a foot and a half of space. I hope that gives you some reference.
