A customer came to me and said his boat needed a face lift, so I am going to pimp his boat, give me some feed back Riders.

h20jnky 05-02-2005 11:20 AM

rio,
what kind of boat and what is the budget?

denverd1 05-02-2005 11:55 AM

some pics would be nice too

calabria_man 05-02-2005 2:13 PM

first get rid of the boss accessories. Then go over to Lightning Accessories and they will hook you up with some of the good stuff!

h20jnky 05-02-2005 2:21 PM

uh oh! looks like someone doesn't know who you are rio... let him down easy.

powerstroke 05-02-2005 2:36 PM

dam i'll take it just like that!!!!!!!!!!!!

riothepimp 05-02-2005 2:57 PM

Let him talk I am cutting scott's speaker rings now and will move on to his tower next you riders will like this thread, keep the sugestions coming.

R

whitechocolate 05-02-2005 6:14 PM

Yo Rio: What up, Man you want to pimp that boat out. Dont waste time and money on Accesories, fill that boat full of hot looking lady's and you will get my vote for "most Pimped boat" Tower speakers are overated. LOL

Hey Alex: where did you think LIGHTNING Accessories got half there Idea's to make anything they are currentley selling. Thats right BOSS. Look at there cans look at there tower mirrior mount. Its 5 year old Boss Accessories desighn's that they bit.

Im guessing that you had no idea that Rio is the owner of "Boss Accessories" and that you had no idea that Lightning Accessories stole half of there design's and is selling them as there own.
so you can see how your coment's are IMO pretty funny. Or mabey you knew all this and the Joke's on Me LOL. But ill go with my frist guess. Because the trend going around here is for one preson that know's very little to spread what little knoledge he knows to as many people as possable.

whitechocolate 05-02-2005 6:16 PM

Innovate not Immatate}

riothepimp 05-02-2005 6:33 PM

Grant shut his asrs up but let him talk this is what this is all about, I will leave Scott's boat rollin hard I just designed the billet peice for the side and the mounting system, this will be one of a kind for about two weeks, then they will all bite.

R

socalwakepunk 05-02-2005 6:51 PM

I would like to add to Grant's idea of the ladies, an integrated margarita blender. And a quick connect tower disco ball.

calabria_man 05-02-2005 7:43 PM

I was just playing around. Both Boss and Lightning make great accessories. My boat is outfitted with all Boss stuff and it's quality stuff. Sorry Rio, I was just messin with you.

msasser 05-02-2005 9:51 PM

i dont know how much i like that white and yellow look, i dont think they match, but thats just me, i would try to find something that looked a little cleaner. other than that, i like the suggestions that have already been made. can you pimp out a seadoo? just kidding.

milo_lite 05-02-2005 10:13 PM

I would always prefer that X-something you got next to the boo.. but thats me..

monstertower 05-02-2005 10:20 PM

Rio, this Sept at SurfExpo you and me need a showdown, I'll pick the "establishment" and you pick the poision.

And that whole immitation vs flattery thing is way over rated. You lead Boss to innovate so much of what hangs on towers today, keep up the great work.

bigasswake 05-02-2005 10:24 PM

I know what I'd do!!!

Holla if ya need any ideas

I bet he got one of these
litupelectronics.com

jlembas 05-03-2005 6:41 AM

Rio.......c'mon. Every good pimp knows a boat needs a BRASS POLE.

We've actually talked about this for some of our friends that enjoy the scene a little too much. Just use the picnic table recess mount on the floor and run the pole up to the tower. I'll give you more sweet ideas, but this one will get you going in the right direction.
riothepimp 05-03-2005 8:57 AM

cool, cool thanks, I will post the new cuts today.

natlchamp2k4 05-03-2005 9:56 AM

Here's my idea:
Cover the whole tower in fiberglass, corbon fiber, etc. Something light. Then integrate 7" LCD's, 6.5 speakers, 6x9's, and then a tap to dispense your beverage of choice.

Put 22's on the trailer if at all possible
h20jnky 05-03-2005 10:09 AM

rio, here's some more:

-air bag the trailer
-back up camera mounted on tower with display on dash, watch rider and waterway at the same time
-intercom system for easy communication
-chrome kit for motor
-satellite antenna for radio, gps, tv
riothepimp 05-03-2005 2:33 PM

Hey Grany whats up, Bill how things, we will not be at surf expo this year it is a waist of cash, but I will chatch up with, YO Riders how about tower designs ??

joe_788 05-03-2005 3:57 PM

One of these...

that's good Joe thanks, I like it that for sure.

joe_788 05-03-2005 4:27 PM

You should see it in the sun. It's blinding, even when it's 4 inches underwater!

(This is not in the sun)....

riothepimp 05-03-2005 5:08 PM

Joe I will try to make it out of one piece, give me two weeks or so.

socalwakepunk 05-03-2005 6:13 PM

That transom guard looks cool, but I would be concerned that it looks like it would be quite a bit more harsh on the wakeboards than the stock teak guard.

tlb 05-03-2005 9:55 PM

Joe, that is sick! what other trick stuff you got on your boat?

wakefunx2 05-04-2005 7:49 AM

WHAT!?!?!? DAMN IT JOE!!!!! now im going to have to ask you to make another one of those for my boat, that looks sick by the way.

psudy 05-04-2005 8:23 AM

How much joe? My saver got ripped off my platform by our rope(it was a little bowed). I would definalty like one of those. It would have to have different screw holes since the originals are striped out. Let me know.

loux2 05-04-2005 9:09 AM

Joe, wear did you get that transom saver. That thing is off the hook. Have you had any problems with people getting cut buy it or anything. Looks like it might do some harm. I was also wondering if it is hard on the wakeboards?

whitechocolate 05-04-2005 9:17 AM

Sound like your swim deck is always under the water, Thats a good thing. I bet that thing is hot as hell in direct sunlight with no water on it.

Jude's X9 has a Aluminum trim ring that goes around his cup holder's on his engine cover If you make the mistake of putting any body part on that thing after it has been in the sun, you will know it for sure, It will burn the hell out of you. One good thing about it it will warm your beer quiclkey if you like. LOL

riothepimp 05-04-2005 11:09 AM

Here are the billet bezels for the speakers, Grant remember the 2002 Boss Billet, you will want this tower, coming next.

sebastian 05-05-2005 11:30 AM

Rio it looks great.
what's the run time?

riothepimp 05-05-2005 11:44 AM

Thanks, The beauty ring and the billet side runs around 3.75 hours, I should have it done by 2:00, let me know if you are interested in the program.

sebastian 05-05-2005 11:50 AM

what cad\cam you use? I have couple things I want to machine my self but never have time just work and more work

skipper 05-05-2005 11:59 AM

Thanks for all the ideas! I am having the windows tinted when I get it back home. Part of the tower upgrade will include a mirror mount and a set of waterski racks (I am diehard old school skier, hence the LXI direct drive). The boat already has an 8" Kicker solo by the drivers feet and a set of 12" rockford fosgates in a plexi box in the storage compartment, driven by two Alpine V12's. The upgrade wil also include a set of B-653's on the tower. I did a custom ballast system myself two years ago with two 600lb locker sacks. One in the ski locker and one in the trunk (hence the need for a waterski rack)sacks are controlled seperately, plus the Wedge. I've got a jump seat but rarely use it. Thanks a gain for the input and let's watch as Rio "Pimps My Ride".

What up Rio, it;s been a while bro-

I saw how you dressed out Parson's ride... SICK. Absolutely the hottest Malibu I have ever seen. You deserve so much love that if I let you borrow my wife for a night it wouldn't be enough! Hahahaha anyways good to see you still have a pulse and that creativity still rules you. Keep on truckin little buddy... Hey remember back in the day when towers were a tough sale??? Hahahha I KNOW you and I BOTH do. riothepimp 05-09-2005 9:38 AM

Thanks riders for the comps.
Linc Dude what's up long time no hear.
Yo Sebastian the tubing is screwed into the billet, it also detaches from the back part of the billet and fols forward.

sebastian 05-10-2005 9:13 PM

looks great but it's to much machining for me maybe in the down turn project
let see some pic's on this new billet on the boat

that tower is awesome, good job! Also your elbow looks jacked what happend there?

nechay 05-25-2005 8:14 AM

Hi Rio, your towers looks cool! We have to make a tower for our boat ourselves. Please give us a good advice what kind of metal tubes is good for tower diam. and thickness. And if you have any draft of tower and mounting hardware please send it to me by e-mail nechay05@mail.ru we are too far from America so no competition. What is the best place to instal tower?

riothepimp 05-25-2005 9:17 AM

I smaked my elbow in the right spot and it looked like a tennis ball was growing in my elbow, she working just fine with advil. Thanks gents for the props I have a few more items I will post and I also have a new project starting next week. Yo Vladimir I have all the parts you need to make a tower, just let me know if you want 2.0 or 2.25 fittings, try to use 6061 tubing not pipe and you should be able to put a tower together.}

riothepimp 05-25-2005 6:20 PM

Yo Grant you ready, lets move on your ride??
tlb 05-25-2005 8:12 PM

Rio, that tower looks sick. You should be making OEM towers for Bu! Really fits the lines of the boat.
riothepimp 05-25-2005 9:02 PM

cool thanks Tom but I think they like that reverse look, I got some cool sheet on the drawing board, it would be cool if they liked it.

monstertower 05-25-2005 10:02 PM

If there is ever a "Wakeboard Tower & Accessory Hall of Fame", You'll be the first person inducted! As always, and since the beginning of wakeboard tower, awesome & innovative work!

danl 05-26-2005 7:40 AM

Hey Rio ~

I am looking for someone to make a rubrail cap - the one that hides the seam in the rubrail on the transom (you can see one in your picture of the red MC in the post above). Original cap won't fit as I have put a new rubrail w/a stainless steel insert on the boat. Interested?

riothepimp 05-26-2005 9:18 AM

Dan can yoou send the shape of the side view, or the contour of the rub rail.

riothepimp 05-26-2005 9:26 AM

Tanks Bill for the comps

danl 05-26-2005 1:16 PM

I was thinking of making a mock up out of wood which would be the exact dimension that I am looking for. Here is a piece of the new stuff I cut off the end

Here is the old piece:

nechay 05-27-2005 12:01 AM

Hi Rio, what metal do you use for mounting hardware i thing it can't be aluminium 6061. may be stainless steel? Sorry but it will be wery expencive to cargo the parts from USA to Russia. So your drowings of mounting hardware can help us.In view of our bot's constucting there no horizontal places to instal a tower, only side-slope. May be you can give us a good advice about that!!! We can use a boat only three mounth in a year from June to August + half of September so we have to be in a hurry.
Vladimir

riothepimp 05-27-2005 11:07 AM

Yo Vlad if you can get 6061 tubing I can send you all the parts you need, to make a tower, check these pics out.

salmon_tacos 05-27-2005 12:04 PM

Vladimir,

If you want to fabricate a tower out of off-the-shelf parts, your best bet for mounting hardware is to use heim joints, also known as spherical bearings, rod ends, and probably a few other names.

I have seen side-mounted towers where a 2" thick piece of aluminum is tapped and the heim joint is threaded into it. The mount is attached to the hull using bolts through the fiberglass and a 1/4" aluminum backing plate. The other side of the heim joint goes into a threaded insert that is welded into the end of the tubing.

Here's a picture:

In this picture, the billet aluminum mounts have been machined to roughly approximate the curve of the hull and thickened epoxy resin is used to perfect the fit. Oh, I just realized that I left out the rubber material that you should use between the mount and the hull. Install that after you have moulded the mounting feet to the curve of your hull (if you choose to do that). I'm not sure what you'll find in Russia. Just use something about 1/8" thick and very firm.

I think this method is your best bet since the only parts you will need to buy are the heim joints (I'm sure they are available in Russia but you could ship them from the U.S. or somewhere else if you really had to), the fabrication is pretty simple, and this type of mount will minimize the chances of gelcoat cracking.

If you would rather not use billet aluminum, you could also fabricate the mount by welding a threaded tube to a steel plate (and reinforcing appropriately).

One final note: If your hull is not very thick, you can increase the size of the backing plate and/or "glue" some marine plywood to the inside using the same thickend epoxy resin.

...sorry for hijacking this thread. Let the pimping resume...

riothepimp 05-27-2005 5:47 PM

no hijacking, this is good info, but he will need all the parts to make the tower so there is no machining on his part, just the heim joint will not help him, vladimir need parts especialy if he wants to colaps it.
