I am fairly new to riding only one summer and i am looking for some new bindings. I like the ankle support but dont know if them poping off on a harde fall is good. Also is the new snowboard inspired boots harder on your ankles???

Nick whad is it? From my experience its far better to have your feet fall out on a hard fall then not. But it's all preference and i prefer to not have broken ankles. See you on the water.

Take your pick:

The bindings stay on during a "digger." The board stops and holds on to your ankles resulting in a whipping motion of your upper body where the result is a hard SMACK to your face. But...Your ankles and knees are safe.

Option 2: On a digger, the board stops and releases you. This allows your body to continue traveling and come to a less abrupt stop or slide. You can still get smacked, but it is usually less violent. The downside is a "one in one out" scenario where the board spins around and blows out a knee or ankle.

I like option 2...loose boots. But I think you'll find it 50/50.

thanks for the info i have had the one in one out the bindings gave thier double ups but i did realize that can be a huge issue. a digger is that when you catch the board on the front edge???
