I'm a newbie to video but our shop just purchased a new GL2 to start logging video from events, demos, and pretty much anything else we do. Well being a mac junkie I wanted to see if I could get an opinion of those who are using FC Express. Do you think it's a good video program to start with or would there be something I should look into first?

Thanks All!

FC is nice, and I use it a lot. But I would consider using iMovie for as long as possible if you haven't edited before, and this way you get the fundamentals of video editing. Then later getting Final cut, as it will take longer to edit something on it due to the amount of programs used to make one video (LiveType, Motion etc etc)

I teach Media for High School Students and we use Final Cut and iMovie. Most students quickly learn to hate iMovie because it really limits tweeking shots, color correction, and motion key framing. However, if you don't have any experience I agree with Chad to start with iMovie and move up. Most important is to do a few projects for practice before you need to do something with a deadline for public viewing. You will need to use iMovie AND learn how to get it to DVD with iDVD. Get comfortable with using quicktime as well. It's fairly simple and really handy to understand how to compress video, and store video on disks.
