I have been boarding now for about 6 years but i have just recently bought a boat with a tower on it i was wondering what is the perfect rope length and boat speed i need to use to get the most air that i can do all of the tricks on. I am about 5'10" and weigh about 185. I have been going with 65 ft. and about 20mph..... Help would be much appreciated!

personal preference...Boat and weight will also play into it.

I ride at 75' 23.5 MPH in an 06 SAN TE with about 1,000 LBs. extra

If I try and ride less than 22, I can't get the board to plane right. I'm 6/ 195. I grew up skiing though, so the higher speed doesn't bother me.

I'm 5'9 and 195 ride at 23.5/75length. anything less I fell sluggish and not on top the water.

I ride at 19.8 (perfect pass), and 65 ft. It varies a lot on your boat setup. Take a set or two and ride just to figure out what works best for you.

Evan--how much ballast?

(Message edited by fergie23 on June 30, 2006)

I used to ride with full ballast (two in back, one in mid.) with a wedge. Lately I've just been using the wedge and using the ballast to even out the weight. Completely full the ballast on my boat is 1500 lbs.

80-85 depends on the boat 85 behind nautiques mainly and somewhere between 23 and 24 works really well just gives youa lot better feel and it feels more comfortable out that far to me.

I used to ride at 70ft at 21 mph, now i ride at 80ft at 23mph... when i made the transition, i was totally intimidated by the 80ft line because the wake is wider and your riding a little faster.. but i like it more now that im used to it because i think it gives you a little more hangtime, and it makes it a lot easier to cut out... Alot of things in wakeboarding are habit.. and i think everyone should keep an open mind and try different things all the time, because maybe at first changing your setup is uncomfortable.. but once you really give it a try you might find some things to be better... that goes for alot of things other than just line length...
