htown 04-23-2003 2:24 PM

I have a 2000 Super Air and wanted to know where to put subs. I have one JL 10" underneath the passenger seat and needed more.

I thought I saw one boat that had a soloberic underneath the drivers sidewall of the boat.

Where do you put your subs?

eljefepequeno 04-23-2003 2:35 PM

I have a 12" Kenwood in the back right compartment in a AudioFormz Fiberglass enclosure. I am thinking it would be a perfect spot if I had another 100-150 RMS to it.

Grant - That looks awesome. What did you do with all that stuff that was underneath there. Heater, fuses, etc?

whitechocolate 04-23-2003 5:40 PM

I had David Copperfield come over he made everything "Vanish under there" Plus I got to check out his girlfriend "Claudia" No Serious Cut and Paste Cut and Past my friend! everything is still there I just relocated everything. Im suprised at how many people don't do it like this I know it's alot of extra work but with space so Tight ya gotta go the extra mile

wake_fun 04-23-2003 6:10 PM

Grant,
Again, very awesome job!

h20jnky 04-24-2003 1:14 AM

very nice, very nice!

btw, where do your legs go now?

whitechocolate 04-24-2003 6:58 AM

Thanks Wes:
Ryan It has the Exact same Leg room as the stock set up. I can still see the line left in the carpet from the stock kick board

cws_kahuna 04-24-2003 8:23 AM

Very nice Sub setup Grant.

whitechocolate 04-24-2003 8:30 AM

Thanks Rich: Hey My friend Just bought A SAN TE
he said there is a "Fiberglass Hump" kinda in the way like this set up wouldn't work?? He said the installer said he would have to cut/grind away the small hump before he could install. He said it looked like a "Lip" where the mounting board screw's down to. Any Idea's what hes talking about

eljefepequeno 04-24-2003 8:50 AM

Yeah Grant. I would say the hump is approximately a foot wide, around 6-8 inches tall, and around 6 inches deep. I don't know if I would grind it away, as it is pretty darn big. It is also used to hold up the kick board like you said earlier. I don't know what damage would be done by removing it, anyone know?

tlb 04-24-2003 5:37 PM

Jefe, I don't want to hijack this post, but I looked at your profile and noticed you have a boat buddy ez load. I used to have a Mastercraft with it, but I've never seen one on a SAN. How has it been working for you. My trailer is being built right now and it is an option. Thanks

tlb 04-24-2003 5:41 PM

I've heard people talk about making the cooler into a subwoofer box since there's a space between the clamshell seat and the cooler. Has anyone done this? seems like a good idea.

endo 04-24-2003 5:49 PM

Tom,
I'm doing it as we speak. My "cooler" box is getting coated with ryno-lining right now. Should have it installed next week. I'll post pics.

eljefepequeno 04-25-2003 6:52 AM

Tom-
Yup, I have the Boat Buddy and I love it. I would have prefered it to be about an inch or so higher, but other than that, it works great. You will have to get a longer bow eye, than the Nautique one, to make it work.
Also, I had heard of 2 Kicker 8 inch subs (square) replacing the cooler box. They had to take the old box out, replace it with a new sub enclosure and form it with Nautiques carpet. Nautique should really consider making that an option.

Matt- Can't wait to see it, let us know how it sounds.

gherk 04-25-2003 3:31 PM

Where did they get the carpet? I have been looking for the stock carpet but can't find it anywhere.

tlb 04-25-2003 5:10 PM

Matt, did you do away with the cooler all together? or was there some space still left? Please post the pics when it's done. thanks.

endo 04-26-2003 2:40 PM

Pics by tuesday. I took the cooler out and my box is almost the exact size, however, I would make the specs a little different if I did it again. What I did was make 2 separate chambers for 2 kicker 8 inch square L7's. They face the bow of the boat. The box is getting sprayed with ryno-lining right now, and I'll then cover it with carpet and drop in the cupholders.

Paul, the carpet is simple! Call correct craft and ask for it! Your dealer can get it, or do what I did and call your regional cc distrubutor. I beleive that the carpet actually comes from southeast correct craft in orlano, fl. You can get their # on smartpages.com. It's about $15 per square yard.

endo 04-29-2003 9:01 PM

Sorry guys. I took pics, but the format is too large to upload. I'll get more pics tomorrow. Email me if you're really interested in seeing it now.

endo 04-30-2003 9:11 PM

Ok, here are the pics. The inch space at the back is due to the little bastard at lowe's that cut the wood wrong- I was too impatient to get new pieces cut!

endo 04-30-2003 9:15 PM

Here's another view. I love it because you really can't even tell it's there! Oh, and it hits hard coupled with a solobaric 10. I had the box ryno-lined inside and out, then installed the subs and put the carpet on. It shouldn't rot this way.

htown 05-01-2003 6:42 AM

Looks awesome / thanks for the pics

pesos 05-01-2003 11:33 AM

that is shweet. are you going to get the solobaric grill covers? i'd be worried about someone kicking the exposed subs...

cws_kahuna 05-01-2003 11:43 AM

That looks very good. Wes from the looks of the box the Kicker covers would be too big for that box, no where to screw them onto, but if they would fit I would use them for sure if it were my boat.

I am not too familiar with your boat, What does that area normally look like, you said there was a cooler there?
endo 05-01-2003 8:54 PM

Here is the finished product, with the exception of the grilles, which I will add when I receive them.

pesos 05-01-2003 9:43 PM

Matt (mattoz), Where did you get that insert for the side of your SAN? That looks really cool.

tlb 05-02-2003 10:54 AM

Matt (mattoz), Where did you get that insert for the side of your SAN? That looks really cool.

mattoz 05-03-2003 4:10 AM

Hey Tom, the side sub box was a combination of custom work from all the guys I ride with. It came up a treat. After our first attempt in the 2001 we stepped it up for the 2003. However, I must admit that it is the 15" sub that makes the system complete!

htown 05-03-2003 3:36 PM

matt - that looks awesome also. Do you have to 10"s and a 15"?

What/how many other speakers do you have to equalize the base?

Another question, what is the easiest way to remove the panel where the throttle is connected? I need to replace the stock 6 1/2" that is by the drivers feel and I can't get that panel off.

pjdave 05-07-2003 12:45 AM

Our old 2001 had 2, 10s one in the kick and one behind the driver. The 2003 has 1, 15 behind the clam shell seat and 1, 10 behind the driver. The boat has 6 clarions in the stock locations and 4 up on the tower. We wil be upgrading to 2 sixes and 2 eightes on the tower in our 2004

pjdave 05-07-2003 12:48 AM

Where does everyone put there stackers? we have put ours in the kick panel at the drivers feet.

whitechocolate 05-07-2003 7:01 AM

Dave you can see my stacker/6 disk changer in the Photo I posted Above.(with the red sub box) If you look it's in the top Left hand corner under the dash. it's grey Its hard to see because it blends into the color of the kick/trim panel

sae4life 05-07-2003 8:07 AM
