Waterproof bag or housing for camera
 

I'm fixing to invest in either a 60d or 7d and want something to protect it while shooting from a jetski. I've looked at some of the bags but wasn't sure how well you could you use the controls with those and don't really want to spend $1,500 on a housing. Anybody have any suggestions or experiences?

If it is only a one time thing, you can rent a housing from Borrowlenses.com. I'd be concerned about leakage with a bag as well as if it got dropped, would it float?

Yeah, maybe I should just shoot from a chase boat or land. Its just easier to get a jetski as opposed to another boat. I do plan on doing it a good bit this summer, so the rental idea wouldn't work.

I bought a bag for $100 from B&H and it works fine. I have actually used it underwater so it would be fine for a tube or Jetski. It is a little tough to adjust the controls but it can be done. The pics turned out really killer. I definitely don't think I'd buy a housing unless I was using it a couple times a week. I used mine with a 50D. I couldn't use a Rebel or 1D Mark IV with it very easily.

Rob, can you post a link to the one you got? I'm sure my 7D would fit in that same bag.

Can you tell me what settings you typically use for a wakeboarding shoot from the jetski? I'm thinking somewhere around ISO 100-200, 1/1500 - 1/2000, and a stop of around 5.6 to start with depending on light. Thanks.

I shoot from a ski without a housing all the time, just be careful and insure your camera on your homeowners insurance just in case

I have never shot from a Jet Ski but I have shot a lot from a boat, from the bank and a media tower. There are plenty of guys on here that shoot wake much more often than I do. I shoot Aperture priority 95% of the time for everything. Aperture, I generally shoot two stops from wide open and keep the shutter faster then 1/1000 but I can get away with much slower speeds if I am shooting my 9 year old daughter. My ISO is usually 100.

I may use the bag underwater this weekend using a 5D M2 and a 16-35. It is a lot of fun, This was with a 50D and a Tokina 11-16.
