rain and snow dumpin on the west coast is killer, gonna fill the lakes. i heard elsinor got 5 feet of vertical and 25 feet up the shore line, canyon lake is full to the brim, piru is over flowin, naci fillin up. any one hear anything else?
|
Naci's @ 71% and San Antonio is @ 68%. Compared to 28% that they were a little while ago, that ain't bad at all. Now all we need is one good February storm and we'll be set for the summer. Hooray!!

PS - For you Naci fans, this means the Narrows will be off the hook!
|
keep raining as far as I am concerned.

the more the better!

unfortunate for the families in La Conchita.
Prayers to all involved.
|
All the lakes in the north end of the state are coming up as well. I think all of us are thankful that the faucet is on....
|
bullard's should be good this season, army dad! maybe we'll do a camping trip there this year.
|
Troy L. said that Elsinore's basically 100% - 'bout ready to start dumping over the spillway.

I've been wanting to rant about us shallow Californians beah-chin about drought for years and then whining after only three weeks of rain, but then there's the La Conchita families....

Except for those very real hardships (like people losing their health and property), I agree with hairbanddude - let it rain.

Top priority - get Powell filled so they don't kill it.

|
Maybe they won't let so much water out of the dams this year. Shasta was going down like 2 ft per day and the south fork of Folsom was practically nonexistant.
|
lets just hope the dummies that control the flow gates don't panic again and release water expecting heavy april rain and snow pack and it dosen't produce like before.
|
Anybody know about Lake Powell's water level predictions for the summer? How low was it? 50% of normal I think.
|
Here's a useful link:

http://cdec.water.ca.gov/cgi-progs/current/RES

Many of the lakes that were at 25% 2 months ago are now between 40-60%

(Message edited by jarrod on January 12, 2005)

Joe,

That would be fun to get everybody together, wouldn't it. Rent out that group camp across from Schoolhouse?
|
Awsome the lakes are filling up , but only one problem anyone rember the el neno year. Don Pedro and Mc Clure had logs all over the place. At Mc Clure you couldn't get down the river. They hired someone to clean up the logs.

awww the narrows at Naci. I remember those days

Powell is only 35% full. 136' below full

But the snowpack above the river is like 175% above normal, so when that melts it should add some water to the lake, but right now they still let out twice as much water daily as they receive in.

Glen, Im headed out to our lake to day to see what it got, Will let you know when I get back.
|
Elsinore is up 11 vertical feet from October and water is still pouring in over the canyon lake dam.
|
Guys,

I can confirm Elsinore is pretty full (Clubmyke and I we're there this morning) HOWEVER IT'S CLOSED!! Apparantly there's so much debris from the storm running into the Lake they've shut down both the Launch Ramps we visited.

(Message edited by Tyler_o on January 12, 2005)

Folsom is up 15 feet vertical from 12/29/04.

There's almost enough water to open the browns marina.

Shasta: 55.8
Oroville: -NR-
New Bullards Bar: 48.9
Indian Valley: 68.9
Folsom: 49.7
Camanche: -NR-
New Melones: 52.7
New Don Pedro: -NR-
New Exchequer: -NR-
Friant: -NR-
Los Banos: -NR-
Del Valle: -NR-
Tulloch: 79.8

Here is a pic from the new marina at Castaic on the Old Rd. Yes the showroom had at least 3 feet of water. All kinds of life preservers and waterskis floating around in there.

I can't belive hodges is still so low. I wonder what it was before the rain... 20% full?
|
I've always wanted to hit up Bullards Bar. I think we should really look into all having a nice long weekend WW style.
|
The local news here in SLC did a story about the Colorado drainage area (i.e. everything that drains into Lake Powell) last night. It stated that the snowpack in the drainage area is currently 138% and it would take three years of snowpack at around 140% to fill Lake Powell to full pool. It appears that Powell will be on the rise this year. Hopefully the current high pressure system goes away soon and we continue to have a good snow year.
|
Eric, I may be up there on Sat morning demoing a 23' B52.

I need to ride bad! Let me know what's up today.
|
Long Beach is allways 100%
|
Yeah but at Long Beach you can't have a boat over 21' & it's salty. My uncle is one of the boat lifeguards out there. It also smells like poo & has mung floating everywhere with all this runoff dumping into it.
|
Glen,
Check your e-mail, Im sending pics as well
|
unreal thanks

I will be there sat and probably every weekend I can soon

I will keep in touch
