Nice
|
Excellent Petr! That feeling when the board starts to take shape from the foam is so good! Especially on that first board! Looks like a nice outline.
|
Awesome!!!!!
|
Sweet Petr! What are you using for the stringer material?
|
hurray! looks nice. and i think you don't need an electric planer. surform should be plenty enough for this, you're quite close to the shape.

aah, now i see ... you need a planer for the stringer. that's why i always end up in hornbach (read home depot) on saturday morning, because my father is a hobbyist modeller and we have most of the tools at home (except some of them).

(Message edited by bartj on August 12, 2008)

After the first board , you just cant stop, LOL . NICE LOOKING SHAPE
|
Thanx for watching

Matt - that feeeeeling is awesome!

Jeff - I am using 4mm plywood. I think its from 2 layers of beech and 1 layer of pine I guess, not exatcly my choice, I would rather use some poplar. Just my friend make them for me on big machine. I was thinking about PVC too or something else but I love wood more

Jan - my surform is ready to bite, but I expect that planer will do more exact and smooth work in shaping. Flow of water need to be smooth, no bumps. For one board is surform ok, but I plan to do some research and develop more of them.

Mike yes I worry about it but I more prefer splashing water and riping waves than work with fiberglass and sanding But yes I plan to do more boards - at least there is hidden around 10 of boards in that EPS block

(Message edited by hawaj on August 14, 2008)

Hey where did you get the foam from and how much did it cost?
|
Sorry Will but I live in Europe, Czech Republic. I ordered it directly in foam factory.
Ask Surfdad he knows.

Hey Will,

Most common foam for garage builders is that EPS - 2#. If you can locate it, get virgin beads meaning no reground material in the billet. I order billet in 2# 3" x 24" x 60" for about $20-25 per sheet. More if it's shipped.

I see you're in Georgia, you should hit Lakewakes/Mark up, he's in your neck 'o the woods, he can probably give you the best local supplier.

These folks are all in GA

GEORGIA

Cellofoam www.cellofoam.com

PermaTherm www.permatherm.net

Georgia Foam www.gafoam.com

ACH www.achfoam.com

Universal www.univfoam.com, will ship to you not great quality, and the minimum order is like $250, but it's easy.
