Welded PVC vs. HDPE vs. Trex for Sliding Durability?

A few years back I remember that everyone used round PVC tubing for sliders, but then things strated trending towards Trex. I remember reading is some wakeboarding publication that riders had started using Trex because they discovered that the PVC tubing would shatter after it had been exposed to UV light and the elements for a number of years.

Unit has been making some beautiful wake park features out of welded PVC which I would imagine cost a great deal and are expected to stand the test of time.

Most of the nice wake park features that I have seen are made out HDPE, which seems to be incredibly durable.

Sooo does PVC degrade in UV light or was that just a bunch of "jive talk"?

Given an unlimited budget would you build using HDPE or welded PVC?

Durability aside, HDPE seems to be the best sliding surface.
