Are there any secrets that you guys have found? We have had to compress the file size so much that the song is off beat from the riding and the picture quality is suffering. Are there any free programs for compressing? Any suggestions?

I used Quicktime Pro (through final cut pro) and followed the VIMEO guidelines. If you shot HD your file should be well over 100mb. About 120 for a 4 min thing.

What did you use to compress and what settings?

p.s. VIMEO ROCKS!

I used h.264 @ 3000kb/s at 24p (aka 23.98)

holy crap, 3000kb/s! the highest i've ever encoded to was 2000kb/s using h.264.

It sounds high but that is what they suggest on the HD page. They actually suggest 3 - 5k!

http://vimeo.com/help/hd

I did it through Quicktime Conversion strait in Final Cut. Not best way to export but it works. You can also export a full res file, open in QTPRO and export from there. I am not sure which one in Compressor works but I know it is in there.

Hi I've been using an old technique, Sorenson squeeze and a flash solution I've been working on.

What your thoughts on this quality level? 45 mb- 450k/s
http://WakeSurfSkate.com/byerlyday_08/

takes a long time to compress 5 hrs and is not for free.
The same flv file looks like hell on youtube
and myspace has been choking on it for a week.
Still working that out..grrrr

cheers
Darrin
Proimages.com
