Has anyone been to both of these and how do they compare? I have been to Dale Hollow before and can't imagine it getting much better. How is Norris?

Have you been to center Hill?????

jhilltn 01-17-2008 11:36 AM

Norris is probably a little better. On Norris, the marinas are a lot bigger with stuff going on, like Wing Night at Sequoyah on Friday nights and bands at others. I think there are more spots with good water on Norris than Dale Hollow. The water is super clean at both (center hill is greener and you can't see as far). One big difference is that there are houses on Norris, not on Dale Hollow or Center Hill. I've spent a lot of time on all three and they're all good. Norris has two boardshops on the water- Mission Boarding Co and G Rides plus this year there will be another one that is also renting wakeboard boats. There's a lot of Ohio people on Norris which is probably a negative. I'd say, if you're going for a vacation, give Norris a try.

Never been to Dale Hollow, but I've been to Norris several time and can tell you it's the best all around lake I know of. There's a reason they call it lake of the mountain god's. For riding we usually ride the Powell river but you can find good water almost everywhere. The lake is surrounded by steep mountains. If you want to stay in a 5 star place check out the many rental's at Deerfield pricey but nice. We usually stay on a floating house in Flat Hollow which is awesome if you never have done you ought to try it.

i second dale hollow you can always find glass.just get a house boat and your on the water at all times. dont know about places to party we make a party right where were at. go in sept the rates are cheaper on the house boats and less boats on the lake. you can find a place to ride all day and its super clean and no houses on the water

Dale Hollow is better i think, just because complete glass in the morning and during the weeek very nice all day. Ive been to both several times.. If your looking for a houseboat stay, NO QUESTION go to Dale hollow... If your want to stay in a very nice HOUSE, go with Norris.

My roommate has a houseboat on the hollow and i think it tops norris. One, there are no houses on the lake. Two, the marinas ARE smaller, which equals less boats and less waves. Stay out of the big middles though, winds can stir up some chop. Find a cove and park a house boat. doesnt get any better

i grew up on dale hollow so i am a lil partial. it is so big there is always a cove to find somewhere.

Spent Labor Day at Dale Hollow and HATED it. We never found a good place to ride and got into shallow enough water to stir up mud four different times(not my boat thankfully). I'm sure there are places that are great for riding but we never found any. Sorry for the negative post but I'm still pissed for what was a wasted holiday.

We ride at Center Hill.

i am sorry that you could not find a good place to ride... i just find it very hard to believe because of the fact that the lake is 62 miles long.

I've been to Norris and it's beautiful can't go wrong there. Although, the water did get really low last year but that was during the fall. It might be up now. I've been to Center Hill and it is awesome.

"There's a lot of Ohio people on Norris which is probably a negative"

For sure!! I'd definitely pick Dale for this reason alone!

I have been to both several times. I agree with most of the comments. For bord shops and more of a party atmoshere I would say Norris. But, I do think there was better water at Dale Hollow. (Norris is good too) All in all.........You can't go wrong.
Ohio people are good!!!

(Message edited by slob02 on January 18, 2008)

What are you looking to do on the Lake? Norris has a great wakeboard friendly atmosphere, and Dale hollow is were the TN record bass was caught.

http://www.norriswakeboardsandinboards.com/
http://www.norrislakeinfo.com/
or
http://www.dalehollow.com/
