I have read a lot of post's lately that have to do with injury while wake boarding, skating, & surfing. I recently broke my leg in three places and put a post on wake world. Why so many injuries i ask my self is it because of the equipment advancment? Are we riding equipment that is designed for pro riders and not for the average joe. I do know that pro riders are the driving force behind better equiment, & boats I also realize that there is a chance for injury with any sport. I just cant help but think the sport I love so much is just getting more & more dangerous and does this have to do with the progression of equipment. Is the equipment further along with progression than us that ride only a couple of time's a week. Just wanted to see if any one else has had this thought.

I dont think so, just like with any sport as it grows injuries get more and more. Wakeboarding is growing by leaps and bounds every year as well as wakeskatin and wakesurfs so the injuries are bound to go up. I also think that there are alot of riders with no instruction goin out and trying to land tricks they have no business trying and that helps with the injuries goin up as well. The equipment has just got alot better and nothing more and I dont think it has anything to do with more people get injued at all. I cant say enough about how important it is to get proper instruction and learn the fundementals of the sports and if riders did I think we would see less injuries.

It is also early season. This is pretty regular this time of year. People feel they are right where they left off after last summer. However, after a full winter off the water, the muscles are not in normal shape yet. Wakeboarding is a very stressful sport on the body. However i do notice that every year there are more people getting hurt early in the season.

Very true as well. It is so important to be in good shape, like Pete said Wakeboarding is a very stressful sport on the body. Even moreso on an old body like mine!!
