It starts up and will idle fine, but when I give it gas to pull up the rider it just quits and goes to idle. I turned off the boat started it up again with the radio off and it worked fine for a while. Then I was pulling someone who didn't want the wake as big so when I was pulling them I started emptying the ballast and it died again right when I flipped the switches. I have two optima batteries and both were on the volts were at about 10 which is a bit low. My only guess is that it's the alternator, but I don't know why that would die when it's only the second time I've used it this summer. Any help would be great.

10 Volts is beyond low. That's dead. Check your alternator. Also check to see if one of its brackets is cracked. Mine cracked even after the warranty bracket upgrade. Sounds like a charging system problem to me but I'm no mechanic.

pull on the belt and check the tension. My bracket broke on my 04.

Also have your batteries checked out, one could have a bad cell. I just found one of my optimas had a bad cell on Monday and it would even bring the power down on the 1700CCA stinger battery I had hooked up to it.

Had something similar happen to our old '96 Prostar. A loose bolt on the alternator hook up (not visible under the rubber shoe) was the simple solution to that one. Felt kinda dumb when the dealer told us since we had only checked the other end of the cables on the battery...<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/crazy.gif" border=0>
