can I do a deep water start with a standard ski vest?

ummm. it can be done...but i hope you have a wet suit or jump shorts on. it doesn't make it very easy though.

I wouldn't try with a ski vest. You can do them with just a regular wet suit, but it's much harder.

what kind of vest do u recommend

Use a real barefoot suit with buildt in padding/flotation. I think a vest would be too much drag. It might be possible, but I've never seen anyone get up with one on and I foot all the time.

(Message edited by Shredhead on September 12, 2007)

You will want something on your bootie.
The water at 40+mph will bruse your ars big time.
Get a barefoot suit or at least barefoot shorts, you can find them in any ski catalog.
OR
http://www.barefootcentral.com/
Check out the videos,way cool.
