walt 02-17-2006 6:21 AM

I'm looking at getting a new used boat and have found two that I like. <BR> <BR>The first one is a 2000 Sang-Air direct drive with 270 hours for 24k and is very clean but the owner won't budge on the price. <BR>The one thing I don't like about this boat is the tower and racks (early Proflight). <BR> <BR>The other boat is a 1996 V-210 that is also very clean with 240 hours but it doesn't have a tower or ballast. The asking price of this boat is 19500.00 but the owner says he will deal on it. <BR> <BR>For 19k I could hang a brand new tower and racks and still come out ahead on $$ with the V-210 but I find myself torn between the two. <BR> <BR>So what do you guys think ? <BR> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/285432.jpg" alt=""> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/285433.jpg" alt="">

mitchj 02-17-2006 6:42 AM

I would lean towards the newer boat and change the tower . The 96 looks pretty clean in the picture tough call .

shawnmdarnell 02-17-2006 6:52 AM

We had a 95 DXII and loved it, but if it were up to me, i would buy the newer boat, change the tower and and put new graphics on it.

yoshihiro 02-17-2006 7:08 AM

I have both boats. <BR>(My School use, See Profile Photos) <BR> <BR>00 SANG AIR 2800HRS <BR>01 V210 1000HRS <BR> <BR>I am a heavy user. But There is no hair crack on hull. Like new condition is kept excluding the seat tear. <BR> <BR>Wake: <BR>Same Hull. But Wake of SANGAIR is a little wider than that of v210. You enjoy wakeboard &amp; waterskiing, and SANGAIR is recommended. <BR> <BR>Is SANGAIR the indoor keeping? <BR>Is V210 keeping of the dock on the lake? <BR>Both are great boats. I recommend the boat of Indoor kept and the fresh water use.

load 02-17-2006 7:58 AM

Walt, I would lean to the V210 if it is all good. The SangAir is nice but still not as much interior room as the V210. Good luck, let us know what you do1

shutupandboard 02-17-2006 9:10 AM

What don't you like about the tower? Looks? If It's looks you'll probably never get over that.

wakestar8878 02-17-2006 9:33 AM

V-210 for sure! <BR> <BR>Buy one of the '06 Pro Flight towers with the oversized tubing and your set. The ballast that comes in either boat is just a 400 lb. sack in the ski locker in which you could do yourself. I run 4 water bed tubes in my locker and it works great. <BR> <BR>I've said it before and I'll say again the V-210 is by far the best wake for your money! I'll post wake shots if you want to see them.

antbug 02-17-2006 10:00 AM

Walt ~ I think the gut selling Sang-Air is asking a little much. If these were my two options I would get the V-210. <BR> <BR>I remember I saw a V-210 at the boat show for around $34,000 (I'll post a pic of the price later). Why not just get a new one?

ruffneckrider 02-17-2006 10:02 AM

Walt, I would ask why are you changing baots? Is it's to have more room or to have a more up 2 date wakeboard boat w/ ballest ect. The resale value is also something you should also think about!IMO both bats are nice but one is more of a "trun key boat" (sang-air) and you can ride now and don't have to pay for the extras like tower speakers top ect. The other( v210) is not newer then your old boat and is going to take some work but nothing you can't fix but you get to put your personal thouch on it! I would go w/ the new because you can offer the wakeboarding gear that comes w/ the sang-air up w/ your old boat to sweet'n the deal!! But what do I know! just my 2 cent.

airwarrior04 02-17-2006 10:25 AM

V 210 for shure.

bigpapaf1f 02-17-2006 11:04 AM

Walt, If the V210 is in good shape I would go with it. I love the wake behind the V-210 plus you have more room for sacs that will be out of the way. With the sang-air there is only a sac in the front, But you can always put a Fat seat in the back. Its up to you but I would go with the V-210, Then throw a <a href="http://WakeAir.com" target="_blank">http://WakeAir.com</a> tower and racks on it and your good to go! Good luck.

walt 02-17-2006 11:04 AM

Ant, (Why not a new one?) My wife ! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/lol.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Yoshihiro, How can the wake be wider if it's the same hull ? <BR> <BR>Jeremy, It looks ok but I hear the early Proflight tend to crack and brake.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/sad.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Also I'm not wild about the purple colors on the V-210. <BR> <BR>Thanks for the input everyone ! <BR>Keep it coming.

load 02-17-2006 11:42 AM

Just add a purple strip to your truck and you are good to go <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

sangeria 02-17-2006 2:26 PM

Go for the V210...I have a '97 with the same colors. We've never had a problem, the wake is great, and the seating is way better than the DLX.

blastmaster 02-17-2006 4:15 PM

I would lean toward the V210, only for room. I have a 96 DLX as you can see below. Great boat, I added the tower, stereo, and did my own semi auto ballast. Single 250 sac in locker and then added 250 lead hidden where it cant be seen. Wake &amp; ride are awesome. Did you see the 140 hr saner in the over 5 yrs section in Nor Cal? <BR>Rick <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/285500.jpg" alt="">

rvh3 02-17-2006 4:37 PM

Definately go for the V-Drive. What are you going to do without that beloved teal green? Damn, I'd like to shoot the person that made that teal so popular for those 3 months it was used!

tazz 02-17-2006 5:24 PM

Walt <BR>I sent you a PM reguarding a boat.

wake_upppp 02-17-2006 5:42 PM

Too much for the D-Drive. V-210 all the way. The wake is argueably the best in the Sanger line for the money and amount of ballast needed. The Sanger in the "5 years and older" is also over-priced. Walt if you could put up with Teal, you can do Purple.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/wink.gif" border=0> Hey if you pass on the V210, I might want it. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by wake upppp on February 17, 2006)

yoshihiro 02-17-2006 6:16 PM

Walt <BR>No same Wake also in same Hull.Air Nautique and SuperAir Nautique several years ago are same Hull. However, Wake is different.I think that the difference of the weight distribution. <BR> <BR>V210 is great. but I think that the price is high of V210 that you found.(1996&amp;No tower)SANGAIR is not bad either.one of best direct drive wakeboats.

mendo247 02-17-2006 6:48 PM

<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/lol.gif" border=0> look at yoshi's profile, he has the exact same boats, id say your talking to someone who might know a thing or two about these boats...lol...

walt 02-17-2006 7:25 PM

Are the older V-210's the same hull as the newer ones ?

stevev210 02-17-2006 7:59 PM

yes

dakid 02-17-2006 8:01 PM

walt, i've ridden both (used to ride both regularly). assuming both are in great condition, go w/ the v-drive. the interior's wide open for everyone, and the wake is much better (not saying sangair wake sucks).

walt 02-17-2006 8:03 PM

Why would it be better if the hull is the same ?

dakid 02-17-2006 8:05 PM

i don't know, but test 'em both. you'll see.

walt 02-17-2006 8:06 PM

I went and looked at the V-210 today and on a scale of one to ten I'd give it a 7 <BR>I'd give the Sangair a 9.5 (Very clean) <BR> <BR>With that said I think I'm going with the V-drive. I can hang a new tower and add ballast and still be way ahead on $$$.

gunz 02-17-2006 8:13 PM

Did you off your old one?

walt 02-17-2006 8:14 PM

Rich, <BR>Not yet but it went in the trader today and I'm showing it to a guy tomorrow.

walt 02-17-2006 8:56 PM

I'm looking at the Proflight chubby tower for it. <BR>After seeing how solid and nice looking it is on Richards V-215 it's the front runner right now.

chas 02-17-2006 10:00 PM

Walt, <BR>Look into the Wakeair stuff also, Brian is a great guy to work with.

deneng 02-17-2006 11:05 PM

Walt, <BR>There is a prestine condition Super Sport for sale on Correct craft fan site for under 20k. Only has 186 hours. Seems like if you wait you can find a v210 in better shape for the same price. I know last year there were a few v210's and v215's selleing fully loaded from the dealers for like 34k. Buy what you really wan't otherwise you may find yourself selling again in 1-2 years again too upgrade, or spending thousands too make a modification that you are hoping you will be happy with. Can't you find a 00-01 v210 in the 25-27 range? <BR> <BR>

walt 02-18-2006 4:42 AM

Joe, That boat sold about a week ago.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/sad.gif" border=0>

deneng 02-18-2006 6:51 AM

Walt give Mike a call aat Central Valley marine, and Bill a call at Topside marine and tell them what you are looking for they both know well what's out there and who want's too sell soon.

walt 02-18-2006 7:58 AM

Dennis, Thanks but I'm working on a deal with the V-210 above^.

deneng 02-18-2006 8:25 AM

Ok cool.

wake_upppp 02-18-2006 8:25 AM

The V210 wake is going to be better simply because of weight distribution. The wake between the two would be close to the same with the same amount of weight, but distributed differently. The direct drive will handle better. The advantage of the V-drive is room and most of the ballast will be forward versus rearward with the D-drive.

dakid 02-18-2006 12:33 PM

my bad walt. <BR> <BR>here, how bout these? (no purple in either) <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/283042.html?1140246554" target="_blank">http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/283042.html?1140246554</a> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/284246.html?1139856312" target="_blank">http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/284246.html?1139856312</a> <BR> <BR>how 'bout a v215? <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/wink.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/280162.html?1139457910" target="_blank">http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/8/280162.html?1139457910</a> <BR>

walt 02-18-2006 12:38 PM

Joe, Those are all very nice but over my budget.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0>

dakid 02-18-2006 12:42 PM

budget schmudget. i'll refi your house, get you cash out, then you can pay cash for the boat! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/lol.gif" border=0>

mendo247 02-18-2006 5:42 PM

joes got this all figured out!! heck walt my loan guys office is a stones throw from your house<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" border=0>

walt 02-18-2006 5:43 PM

Once again there is a WIFE factor here !<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0>

deneng 02-18-2006 9:28 PM

Hell you would save money by buying a fully loaded new and offing it in 2 years as compared too buying a 96 and adding a new tower. When your wife see's how this sweet deal worked out dogg ....

deneng 02-19-2006 9:02 AM

Just kidding Walt, but there is some truth to it. That's a kick ass 96 and when you customize it !

walt 02-19-2006 7:22 PM

Does anyone have Brad (tazz) phone # ? <BR>If so could you send me a PM with it ? <BR> <BR>Thanks, <BR>Walt

gunz 02-19-2006 8:13 PM

Not sure.I like the Vdrive, but the newer one is way nice.

walt 02-19-2006 8:37 PM

How do you guys like this one ? <BR>I like it ! Brad give me a call soon ! <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/285881.jpg" alt="Upload">

gunz 02-19-2006 8:45 PM

NICE!

load 02-19-2006 11:58 PM

Buy It! Very Nice!

litlone873 02-22-2006 9:36 AM

Walt, <BR> <BR>Keep us updated on the progress. <BR> <BR>In case you haven't bought yet... I'm a wife with a budget too, I understand your dilema of trying NOT to go overboard. That said, I can come up with some compelling reasons for you to spend some extra $$ and move up to a v215... Got little ones? You'll want a deeper interior to keep them from falling out.

litlone873 02-22-2006 9:52 AM

Let me clarify, I have never heard of a child falling out of a V210. It just seems to me that the V210's interior is very shallow and a small child peering over the edge into the water could fall out a lot easier than in the deeper V215. Well worth the extra $$$ IMO.

guido 02-22-2006 10:42 AM

You guys are on crack saying the 210 wake is better than the Sang-Air. I actually thing you start with a worse weight distribution. Ask Billy who had a better wake: my Sang-Air or his 210. Not only that, but the Sang-Air has 400 lbs of rear factory ballast to start with. I think the wake will be exactly the same if you take time to make it even. That said: the 210 has a better interior layout. <BR> <BR>Walt: I like the last pic you posted. I'm a huge fan of EFI and if it's an option to get a boat with it I'd highly recomend it. <BR> <BR>BTW, just get a boat already. I'm looking to mooch a Sanger pull for old time sake.

stephan 02-22-2006 10:43 AM

I fell out of a V210 once...luckily since I am a child (or was in a child like state at the moment) I had my life vest on. Isn't that law for kids under 12 anyways? Lesson learned. Don't dunk your head in the spray coming off the boat, it can pull you out. The V210 seriously has the best wake ever, my personal favorite behind an X-Star. <BR> <BR>Walt, wife problems??? Can you sell her too? Perhaps package her with your old boat? <BR> <BR>That last one looks pimp!

walt 02-22-2006 2:52 PM

Well I was supposed to pick up a V-210 tomorrow but the deal fell through.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/sad.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Brad, <BR> <BR>Talk to me ! <BR>

redv215 02-23-2006 2:36 PM

Walt, <BR>So what's the deal? Did you get that last V210? Hope it is all working out for you.

walt 02-23-2006 4:41 PM

The last V-210 pic isn't up for sale just yet. <BR> <BR>But I was going to buy the one in my original post but the owner would only accept cash and not a money order.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/sad.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>Back to the drawing board.

wake_upppp 02-23-2006 5:51 PM

Walt, when I bought my truck I got a cashier check from Wells Fargo and the seller and myself went to Wells Fargo in his city and he cashed the cashier check, then we finalized the deal. I wouldn't take a money order either unless I was able to cash it before turning over the title.

walt 02-23-2006 6:54 PM

Sparky, <BR> <BR>I would of been fine going to the bank but this guy insisted on a cash deal.

mudsurfer 02-23-2006 9:01 PM

Walt, <BR> <BR>A buddy of mine just bought a V215 and he has a 2000 v210 w/tower for sale if you want i can give you his number

chas 02-23-2006 10:38 PM

Hey Walt, <BR> <BR>I will take a money order <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/proud.gif" border=0>

walt 02-24-2006 4:14 AM

Scotty, <BR> <BR>That would be great. <BR> <BR>Chas, <BR> <BR>to many digits.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/uhoh.gif" border=0>

mudsurfer 02-24-2006 8:44 AM

Walt, I pm'd you with the number, the boat is clean I think you will like it.

walt 02-24-2006 7:09 PM

Thanks Scotty. I called and left a message.
