Hey, I'm about to go to college and I was wondering if there are any Illinois colleges with wakeboarding teams and are they legit.

University of Illinois has a ski and wakeboard club

I'm alum from SIU Carbondale and still live down here. The team has 'legit' for at least 10 years or so. We even had a ski house (and later the girls had a house) that we started in 01 up until last year when the city condemned it . I was involved from 99 till 04. I'm still in touch with a few of the riders, but have been too busy to help out much lately. There are a few pretty good riders on the team and three lakes with/in 20 min from the school. PM me if you'd like more info.

In addition to U of I, I think Western was starting one and SIUE was getting a WB team together. Talk to Kyle at Extreme Power Sports in Greenville about the SIUE effort. Don't have any personal contacts for the other clubs anymore. Check out this site for other contacts:

http://www.ncwsa.com/teams/regions.php?id=mw

(Message edited by siuski on January 30, 2008)

While I was snowboarding at DH (Devils Head) in Wisco (Wisconsin), there was a van that had NIU (Northern Illinois University) water ski team shoe polished on the windows..... Never heard of it before & I am not sure where they would ride....

In the Midwest, ski teams represent, and are much more "legit", fun, and overall better. Most of them wakeboard anyway, just be open and understanding to all disciplines.

Nathan... What lake do they ride on??? They should hit the Rock River, probably closer then the fox.

Last I heard the NIU team rides on a small private lake outside Dekalb almost right off I88. I wish they had a team when I was there I would have been all over that.

U of I has a larger team. Not sure where they ride at but one of the guys that rides with me in the Summer is on the Team and he can throw down. I know He has started getting more consistant on his TSOA7.

One suggestion might be to go to the school website and put wakeboard in the search and see if anything pops up. Or do a google search.

(Message edited by scooby76 on February 01, 2008)
