Need to rent a tow vehicle
Anyone in AZ know where I can rent a tow vehicle for the weekend at a fair price for a weekend? Mine is out of commission for awile and would love to go to the lake!!
Thx Justin |
Do you guys have Home Depot's there? They rent trucks for like $50/day here......

Most auto rental companies rent trucks, don't know if they're tow ready though. Equipment rental places do it also and thiers usually are ... and then there's always Home Depot if your really desperate! :) Otherwise i've never heard of anyone else doing it.

Would be pretty funny seeing that HD truck backing down the ramp with a wakeboard boat. You should stack a load of lumber and a pallet of concrete on the flatbed just for the "Do it yourselfer/wakeboarder" street cred.

I worked at Hertz back in the college days and they won't allow you to tow with them, they use to put cable with locks through the reciever. I would think these days though you could tow with one, just don't tell them . Also ford and GM usually come stock now with the lights all wired up so they can't really block that. Call around.

I beleive all Hertz like rental companies do not allow you to legally tow, but you can rent a SUV capable of towing with receiver and light sets as Gregg posted. If you rent and tow from a traditional car rental company, it could be a mess liability wise if you were caught towing and had a mis-hap though. U-haul and Homedepot like companies and depending on the area there may be some private truck rental companies with pick up trucks that will allow you to legally tow but you will generally pay by the mile so it can add up quick if you have to ride a long way to the lake.
Best thing would be to find some wake buddy with a tow rig....'Lets take my boat behind your truck' type of thing. |

Rental car agencies will not allow you to tow anything with their vehicles, I actually looked into this to try and make my recent boat purchase easier to get it back east. I talked to avis, Hertz, and enterprise, no dice. So I had to make he drive myself (and I am still on it and posting this from my wife's phone!) New Jersey to Utah and back! ( yeah I know its a long haul)
U-Haul does in town rentals for pickups and vans, you might be able to score there. You don't know anyone else with with truck you can swap with? |
hertz eq. rentals. they even have crew cab diesel. And u can tow with there's.

u-haul $20 a day +mileage (I don't know if there is any legal issue and you may want to double check that the truck has a hitch). check their website.
