Joe,

Nice job on the JW feature. Did you guys shoot that with an HVX? The time remaps were impressive, very clean! How did you get the trailing shots, with Dave's jib?

;-) We used the 12' Kessler strapped to the bow of the EPIC. Here are some pics (the last three shots are from the TCF shoot up in Stockton): http://www.kesslercrane.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id= 136&Itemid=78

Definitely not for the faint of heart! LOL As with anything there's a learning curve and unfortunately there's no How To manual for this short of stuff. Exciting and still a work in progress with each set.

There was one shot of Jimmy that was spot on! Perfect comp, angle, position, but he missed the grab so Joe pulled it from the original edit. If anyone is interested in seeing more of these shots you can check out the 2008 EPIC Product DVD.

That is really cool Dave. The tracking with the crane shots was so good on some of those shots to the point I was second guessing whether they were handheld or not. Great stuff! Did you actually mount the crane to the bow somehow? (that's pretty hardcore )

They were ALL done using the crane. LOL.. yup, it was strapped down like a mo-fo. We used five to six cargo tie-downs. You can kind of see it in this pic: http://www.kesslercrane.com/images/stories/photos/gallery/dpc%20films/dpcfilms_kesslercrane_tcf_002.jpg

btw - I used the MicroDolly crane on another shoot on land (rented it to test it out) and even though it's a $4k+ set up... there is NOOOO way you could shoot off the bow with it! So far the Kessler has been rock-silly-solid!

Joe - do you have the really good, but with the missed grab of jimmy you can post up for Rich to check out?
