Post Counts

Is everyone happy with their post count. They should all be accurate now. In fact, it should be more accurate, so if it seems off, it was probably off in the old system! :)

dakid 03-02-2010 11:57 PM

mine is off by 8k or so. eh, i don't care. i say you do away with 'em anyway.

mkrueger313 03-03-2010 9:36 AM

where do you find the post counts??

sidekicknicholas 03-03-2010 9:49 AM

Right about here ------------------------------------ ^

westsiderippa 03-03-2010 10:15 AM

let me see...

westsiderippa 03-03-2010 10:17 AM

no change in mine yet, i still have my fingers crossed though

behindtheboat 03-03-2010 11:46 AM

I have no idea what mine was, but it was around 2500 I thought. Don't really care unless we get bonus points for milestones, then Umali will pillage the store

buzz_grande 03-03-2010 11:51 AM

Guess it's cool that they show up there, but wish they were on the profile page also.

buzz_grande 03-03-2010 11:53 AM

Yea, my numbers are way off, by 1000 or so. No biggie. I will never catch Joe anyway.

wakeboardern1 03-03-2010 12:16 PM

Meh. Post counts shmost counts. I'm with Joe on this one, if it weren't for the point store, I wouldn't see a purpose in them. In some forums it changes your title and the symbol next to your name, but since there's not real purpose to them here other than to say "Hey, I've been here for a long time and I post a lot!" they've always seemed pointless to me.

wakeripper 03-03-2010 12:23 PM

Post counts pretty much get people to just post pointless crap...rather than something that actually contributes to the discussion

scott_a 03-03-2010 3:31 PM

Huh...says I have 1500 posts. Seems a bit low, but I honestly don't care much. Just wanted to poke my head in and throw a quick high five to Dave for removing the post count from the top line that lists the name, 'joined by' date and post time. I've never been a fan of post count I guess.

Walt 03-03-2010 3:46 PM

I think post counts can be relative at times. Off the top of my head it's one of the first things I looked at when I've bought things from the WW classifieds in the past. If it's a new poster I'm not buying. If it's someone that has been around a long time on WW then it's a no brainier.

It look's like my count is off about 10300+ ;)

westsiderippa 03-03-2010 3:55 PM

walt did your account not transfer over? i just noticed your join date was the 1st of this month. i like what walt is saying about credibility for the person posting or making a sale. i have yet to mess with the new classified section but i know on other sites they do an automatic rating system after a sale or purchase. kinda like on ebay. you get a trading score and it shows + - and you can leave feedback. might be something to look into. unless we already have it? still have a lot to explore.

Walt 03-03-2010 4:16 PM

I don't think it did Bryan. I think Dave set it up manually.

wakeworld 03-03-2010 4:32 PM

When people are "competing" on their post count and trying to get to the next level or rank or whatever, it's detrimental because in encourages posting crap. However, I feel a lot better taking advice from someone with 3,000 posts than someone that signed up today. It definitely adds a certain level of credibility.

rukie 03-04-2010 1:53 PM

Dave- Not crucial, but mine says 88? Prior to the swap over I think I was around 1K or so.

wakeboardertj 03-09-2010 5:40 PM

ya mines off by about 1200 as well

wakeworld 03-09-2010 7:12 PM

Sorry guys. We did the best we could on the conversion, but what you've got is what you've got. Looks like everyone lost some post count, so hopefully we all lost a proportional amount and we'll still be able to wake up to another day tomorrow. :)
