I don't know if I overfilled the tank before I put the boat away for storage a few months ago or what. I brought the boat home from storage yesterday and parked (level) it in the driveway everything seemed fine. Got home from work around midnight and there was a nice big puddle of gas beneath the boat. Seemed like it was coming from the gas cap. Opened and the gas was sitting right there at the top. Siphoned some out but dang what a stinky mess. Anything special I need to do to clean the gel?

Overfilled it & the gas expanded as the temp cooled off? Just a guess, I've never had that happen.

Probably worth a coat of wax on the gelcoat.

This is normal if the tank is filled to the top, gas expands as it warms up.

TigeMike has it right. My boat does the same thing. If the gas has actually stained your boat and it won't come off, try Starbright hull cleaner. It is an acid cleaner that will remove the stain. Then just wash and wax as you normally would. My boat is white and the gas leaves a stain that won't wash off. The hull cleaner removes it effortlessly.

Jman
