a friend of mine is looking a used one of these and i told him i would check out what you people thought about these rides as far as a boat and as far as what kind of a wake and pull they give. any info would be great?

For enjoyment of the ride, this is probably his best bet:

That is not a wakeboard boat. It is a cheap bowrider with a fancy sticker and a tower. Tell him to search Onlyinboards.com to find a wakeboat.

The wake will be small, mushy and unpredictable, the speed will never be consistent, and the I/O prop is dangerous.

there aint much out there these days. might have to wait till the summer is over to find the deals again!!!

"there aint much out there these days."

Your kidding right? Boats are worth half what they were two years ago, people are losing their jobs and houses, there is a surplus of great used wakeboats in many price ranges. If you aren't finding them, you ain't looking.

shanemulleryahoocom 06-29-2009 2:54 PM

yea i know the deals are there. but when you are looking to spend under 20,000 then the deals get alot slimmer and the boats get alot older.

I didn't like my rx1 for wakeboarding- Luker pretty much hit it on the head, and I'd add that the holeshot was terrible. - I ran two fat sacs in it. (540s) and wound up having to replace all the gears in the outdrive after 2 seasons.

Shane there are tons of boats listed here on wakeworld under 20K that'd blow that boat away. There are even a few high end vdrives. I saw atleast two Nautique Super Sports, and a Prostar 205V. Sure they are a little older, but would blow that Rinker away in ALL areas.

There are tons of open bow inboards under 20K as well. If you guys plan on doing any boarding, a used, real ski/wake boat would be the only thing you should look at. If you buy the Rinker, you'll sell it two years from now (for half what you paid), and then buy a true wakeboat. I've seen friends of mine do it all the time.

what state are you in?

sidekicknicholas 06-29-2009 8:45 PM

Yeah, give us your state/area/city.... people on here will find you stuff....

Open bow V-drive with a tower for 20k isn't out of the question at all.....

RX1 he may as well buy a deck boat, let me kick him in the junk, and burn the extra 7k

shanemulleryahoocom 06-29-2009 8:57 PM

des moines area. and my buddy has been looking all over the midwest. there was a tige in kc that was also and option i believe

Shane,

Have to keep looking, keep an eye out on craigslist, onlyinboards, boat trader, and even eBay. If you would have told me 2 years ago that I'd own an '05 Supra Launch 24SSV in 2 years I would have told you that is crazy talk. Deals are better than ever right now!!!
