Diesel additive
 

Does anyone add additive to their gas, in their deisel truck? I heard I should be doing this to every other tank full...If so what brands do you recomend???

If they are adding additive to Gas in their Diesel truck they are in trouble:)

Sorry for being a smart a$$. At my family's auto parts warehouse we sold a lot of stanadyne to Fleets. If you are ever in the SODO area stop by their business. They usually stock cases of the stuff. Tell them to sell it to you at True Jobber per Brett. Should be a better price than you can get anywhere else. Might want to call ahead of time though to make sure they have some.

What truck? Usually the additives are to preserve the injectors. What you should get is a FASS lift pump or airdog lift pump.

I run Lucas Oil upper cylinder lubricant in my Duramax per my mechanic. We run the Redline version in our Powerstroke shop truck. Both work great. In my Duramax, you can really tell the difference. The motor runs much smoother and I pick up right around 1mpg. Diesel #2 just doesn't have enough lube in it for the high pressure fuel systems, or so I'm told.

I use the Ford Additive in our Excursion.

AR9100 or Rev-x in the oil in my 6.0 diesels. The difference in how they run is pretty amazing.........Yeah, not a fuel additive but pretty cool stuff nonetheless.........

I run Diesel Kleen in the grey bottle every other tank and it does pick up gas mileage a few tenths and run queiter

What I'm trying to figure out is, is the deisel#2 good to run in my Dodge cummins 5.9 the way it comes out of the station, or should I run the additive, or whatever its called. My friend tells me that the gas these days will mess up my pump eventually. Is this correct or not? This is the first deisel I have owned, and I do not want to mess it up

Well, running gasoline in a deisel is a bad thing seeing as has how deisel engines are designed to run on deisel fuel, not gasoline.

I run the diesel right out of the pump no problem in my 5.9 and have about 150k miles with no issues (knock on wood)... I use a bottle of diesel kleen every once in a while but not every other tank...

HaHa, I guess I worded it wrong, no one I know is stupid enough to put reg gas in a deisel........

I own a gas station, I've seen it happen. Luckily they didn't try and start it and caught the mistake before it was a disaster.

Opti-lube XPD in my duramax every fill up. Awsome stuff. I buy it by the gallon online for 55.00 and last me about 6 months.

I've used Howe's Diesel Treat, but mainly use Diesel Kleen every other fill up in my 5.9 because it is easily available at most automotive or farm shops. More importantly then what additives you should be using to keep your injectors clean is that you are changing your Fuel Filter every 10K miles. Injectors are the weak point in the 5.9 and many owners add an additional fuel filter to the system to keep help protect the injectors. I have not done this yet, and if you chose not to, I would be careful using Mopar fuel filters because they are only 7 Micron. A better fuel filter that is a direct fit is the Baldwin PF7977 which is a 5 Micron Fuel Filter. Although it doesn't guarantee the injectors from failing it is more protective then the 7 Micron fuel filter.

Diesel Kleen EO Tank

Thanks everyone! I think I'll try the deisel kleen every other tank, and def change the fuel filter every 10K, and also think about a extra in line filter!

like I said, lift pump. It keeps the diesel clean and keeps the pump fresh. They are costly but so are those bottles of additives.

I recommend a lift pump too. Even if your not running Any big tunes. It keep my cP3 happy

I run an Airdog 165 lift pump and put a cat adapter on the factory pump head so I can run the 2 micron cat filters. Keeps the injectors happy and takes the stress off of my CP3 pump running the EFI Live. With the Dodge, I think your fuel pump might be in the tank, not sure though.
