I posted a few weeks ago about our cracked centurion Enzo tower. Well sitting here 3 weeks later and still haven't heard a response from metcraft, The local dealership just confirmed that they filed bankruptcy. We are told centurion is going to try and get our situation resolved. Hopefully all who have metcraft towers don't have issues cause getting a tower might be hard

what's metcraft's website?

bill_airjunky 06-30-2009 9:44 AM

Sorry, never had any luck with Metcraft towers. So no loss.

wakeworld 06-30-2009 10:42 AM

If the tower came with your boat, shouldn't Centurion be responsible for taking care of the problem?

bsebllhglyknit 06-30-2009 10:55 AM

Yes everything goes through them but because they do not make there own towers the warranty claim goes through metcraft. Centurion didn't have any towers otherwise I would of had one by now. They have to go through metcraft to get a tower.

The communication between Shell at centurion and our dealer and myself have been great. We have been updated every few days on the situation.

Wow. Metcraft has supplied a lot of towers to boats, Tige, Malibu (Illusion) and Centurion.

tj_in_kc 06-30-2009 11:21 AM

Rod....curious all those towers are located in Merced, CA............

yubasanger 06-30-2009 4:00 PM

Not curious, the central valley is home to MB, Sanger, Calabria, Wakecraft, Malibu and finally Centurion. So it only makes since that many of the suppliers would be in the Merced, Atwater and Modesto area.

hatepain 06-30-2009 4:14 PM

No wonder the new Malibu doesn't have the Illusion on it anymore.

As of july 1 metcraft is shutting there doors!

tanner 07-01-2009 7:14 AM

Why don't you call Metcraft directly. I've had no problems getting ahold of Metcraft or even Bob himself! Although they're website has been down for a month or so.... so who knows.

(Message edited by Tanner on July 01, 2009)

Why not take picture's of your cracked tower.THEN take it to a welding shop and get it fixed and continue to use your boat and wait for all the drama
to play out. Don't waste your summer waiting for the dealer or metcraft to work things out. Go out and enjoy your boat

roverjohn 07-01-2009 7:53 AM

+1^^ If you want it done right do it yourself. If you can R&R the tower yourself you're probably looking at a less than $100 weld repair. If Metcraft's doors are really closed you are wasting your time chasing smoke when you could be riding behind a repaired tower.

h2oproaccessories 07-01-2009 7:58 AM

I'm pretty sure the towers are cast aluminum right? I haven't ever welded cast aluminum, but have welded cast iron. When you weld it, it doesn't hold that well. Might be different for aluminum though.

Just because they filed bankruptcy doesn't mean they are out of business. Has anyone confirmed what form of bankruptcy they filed?

h2oproaccessories 07-01-2009 10:28 AM

yeah... it could be chapter 11.... reorganization.

xsmini 07-01-2009 1:53 PM

XTP just purchased Metcraft

stewart 07-01-2009 2:16 PM

Who's XTP?

mobv 07-01-2009 2:36 PM

XTP is Extreme Tower Products from Maryville, TN. Owners of Monster Brand aftermarket, and manufactures of many OEM towers. Mastercraft, Supra, Moomba, Malibu east coast. Also service Sea Ray, Four Winns, Bryant, and other I/O OEMs.

volzalum 07-01-2009 2:58 PM

XTP does some Centurions too. My Enzo has an XTP tower.

bsebllhglyknit 07-01-2009 3:40 PM

It was welded two weeks ago. I'm not letting it ruin my season. We have been riding every week. But just because I can ride now doesn't make the entire issue resolved.

the_duke 07-03-2009 4:35 PM

Even if Metcraft files bankruptcy it’s still Centurions responsible to replace the tower. And if Metcraft is truly closing their doors and not building towers any longer, Centurions only option is to replace your tower with whatever new version they are using and then deal with Metcraft for their reimbursement.

Shell is awesome and I’m sure if it were up to her, she would arrange to have your tower swapped out for the new one ASAP. Then again, it is Centurion’s owner “Rick Lee” who has the final say on how his company takes care of his customers.

Good luck,

bsebllhglyknit 07-03-2009 10:12 PM

Thanks Tim. We love centurion, I mean its our third centurion and our second enzo. We have had issue in the past and Centurion has always taken care of everything. IMO its a top quality boat, fit and finish and wake.

This has been the first time that we have had to wait and see if this is going to be taken care of.
