Hey, quick question for anyone from the New England/Northeast area. When do people break out their boats and start riding? Where do people ride around the Boston area?

davidbouvier 02-17-2005 5:03 PM

not from new england any more, but i used to start riding the first week of may with a wet suit. i used to live on cape cod. not too many people riding there. may be more now. there was only like 3 lakes you could launch on. i think there is some people that ride down in plymouth. try to get into the int league. you can meet a lot of other riders there.
I'm in PA, usually start riding anytime between mid March and early April with drysuits down here, but it is usually a little colder up there. I'd bet early April to mid April at the earliest, depending on how the winter goes. This winter has been pretty mild so maybe earlier if you're lucky.

Here in NH/Maine it's the last week of April, unless it is still cold. I've never had a wetsuit.

We were out a couple weeks ago. A friend with a boat in his heated garage helps. He and another friend on an 84 month continous stint helps too.

Virtually any temp is ok with a drysuit (and enough cloths underneath!!). As long as the water is still liquid!!

Hey, I live on candlewood lake in CT, we most of the time get the boat in at the end of may. This is no FL. I can't wait for summer

I'm in conneaut, ohio on lake erie. Probably wont but the boat in untill the end of april or beginning of may and it will still be like 50 water temp. Is a wetsuit good enough for 50? like comfortable or still too cold.

I am not really sure when we will hit it...we are outside of Worcester Mass...just waiting for the ice to melt and break out the drysuits...can't wait to get back out there...hopefully Spring will come soon....

Hey, I don't live on a lake unfortuantely, but trailer to Candlewood Lake and Lilinonah all the time. Our friends have a house on Lili, so if they're there, we're there, otherwise we'll be on candlewood. Hopefully we'll be first in line to get the boat summerized about mid-March and then try to get at least one or two runs in before March runs out.

Patrick, where on the lake are you? Or maybe the better question is which Malibu is yours?

I'm the guy skyskiing behind the blue/black Nautique.

Austin , Thats so cool you ride at candlewood I live on Pocone Point. Thats so true about the malibu's every person as one, Maroon Mali with the tower, white house, stone wall. I'm the guy going huge all summer long.

abundiga909 02-28-2005 6:24 PM

All I know is Pocono Point Marina down by the Lattins Cove launch, so I'm assuming your in that area? Unfortunately we try to avoid that area, our prop has taken enough from that launch!

pcoak 02-28-2005 6:50 PM

yeah its not the best ramp but... I live on the point just pasted the hazard marker on the right after the no-wake markers leveing the marina.I work at East Coast flight craft if you know were that is. do you have a house in CT ? or do you just come up on weekend from NY, Sick Boat but I'm so sorry its a Nautique.

abundiga909 02-28-2005 7:26 PM

No, my family has a place in Westchester, so trailer up as much as we can. And I know exactly where you're talking about.

I know of East Coast Flight Craft, and I know of Scott, but don't know where it is or him personally. But you can't beat a tight relationship with all the dudes at Candlewood East!

You don't need to apologize, we all make mistakes in life.

(Message edited by abundiga909 on February 28, 2005)

thats so cool we should ride some time this summer, stop by if your on the lake.
abundiga909 02-28-2005 7:57 PM

Absolutely. I really have to start to get to know people on the lake so when I'm up there alone on the boat I can still get a pull. We'll drive by one weekend morning or afternoon.
