I fully blame Jeff Walker for today’s activities. Jeff started posting stories about long boards including a one-of-a-kind Shred Stixx nose rider long board. Well I got together with Jon and his crew from Springfield. Jon had a 9'6" Stewart long board. Yes, a long board in Ohio.

We put the jumbo Stewart on my home brew board rack. That worked out really well the jumbo was out of the way and it provided a lot of shade.

We started the day riding normal wakesurf boards. I introduced Jon and his crew to the Mighty Centurion wake. It feels good to get a good review of your wake. John had a new Inland Surfer Red Tide and I shared my boards including an IS Yellow, a Cyber Shapes demo, and several Trick Boardz. In all we had nine wakesurf boards on the Mighty Centurion, that's a good day.

My first few rides on the long board were short. I had trouble slowing the long board down and I was prone to fall offing backwards off the board. After a few more rides I learned how to walk back to slow down and forward to speed up.

After we switched to the darkside I even rode the long board on the backside.

We had a lot of other boaters looking at us in either wonderment or severe confusion. At one point after I fell with the long board a boat was heading dead on to where I had fallen. I lifted the board up straight in the air and balanced it on it’s tail. About 9 feet of board was sticking up above the water. The boat ended up dropping a wakeboarder and everyone on board my boat broke out laughing.

Jeff, look like Jon is going to come on out to Nationals and bring his long board. I think we’re going to add long board to the competition

Riding the long board was way-way more fun that I thought it could be. Big thanks to John and Lou for bringing out the Stewart 9’6”!! Here are a few pictures from today’s rides.
Stacy posing with the Mighty Centurion

The 9'6" Stweart in it's carry bag on my board rack

The Mighty Centurion with about 2,000 pounds of ballast and loaded with boards.

Some fine wakesurf boards.

Bigshow on the big board

Some pics of Dave

Do you see the shadow under that humongous board?

Sweet! It's great fun, isn't it? I'm still partial to noseriding though AND if you add a longboard division to Nationals you have to give 90 points for shipping the dang thing 2,000 miles.

I really wanted to try a long board but I didn't if I was going to like it that much. It was really cool.

Hmmm… What would be the prize for the oldest, baldest wakesurfer transporting the most ridiculously long surf board the furthest.

I've already given you my suggestions!!!!! I really enjoy the noserider, we had a great time on Dennis' Infinity too. So many things to do wakesurfing that make it one of the most versatile behind the boat sports, IMO.
