Fine Cigars

Just got back from skiing in Breckenridge and spent too much money at a fine cigar shop, and I'm hooked. So far my favorite is the Rocky Patel Vintage 1990. I'm looking at humidors already! Anyone else like cigars?

03-14-2012 7:38 PM

Yeah cubans! My buddy visits Cuba every 2 weeks:)

bmock50 03-14-2012 7:40 PM

Dang! Never had a Cuban before. What is the difference?

baitkiller 03-15-2012 4:22 AM

Love a good cigar but I dare not tempt myself just yet. I quit cigs just this last September. I get real Cohibas from Cuba from my Pastor and yes they are very good but in all honesty I prefer a fresh Dominican R&J. The Cubans tend to be a little peppery for my taste. I could just be a girlyman.

bmock50 03-15-2012 10:18 AM

Congrats on quitting! I might have to look into some Cubans now.....

migs 03-15-2012 10:50 AM

calexan 03-15-2012 2:11 PM

Padron Anniversary 1964 for a good Medium smoke

Opus X for something that will put you on your ass but is awesome

bmock50 03-15-2012 2:32 PM

cigarbid.com has some anniversaries for 57.00. Now I'm going to have to start a cigar fund haha

jfergus7 03-15-2012 4:38 PM

I love cigars and have been smoking them for 15 years. I have had more then my share of cubans and can get them whenever I want but to be honest your not missing out on anything.

bruizza 03-15-2012 5:21 PM

I love smoking a good cigar. I notice I try and fill my humidor in the winter then smoke most of them during the summer months. So happy it is starting to warm up!

That sounds like a good idea.

So Cubans aren't worth the cash? www.canadiancigar.com has a monthly club that they send you 4 cubans for $100, $70, or $50 depending on the quality of cigar you want.

03-16-2012 7:09 AM

I dont pay anything for my cubans which is why I prefer them:) but I do live in Tampa right outside Ybor City (cigar factories & shops all over the place). You would think I would know more about cigars since I have easy access to them.

NOthing like a Padron anniversario. SOOOOO creamy!

bmock50 03-18-2012 9:24 AM

Smoked a cohiba toro yesterday and really liked how strong it was. I wish we had a ton of shops around here

snyder 03-21-2012 7:49 AM

I second the underwhelmed impression of cubans. There are too many really good boutique brands out now that you don't have to go searching for cubans (or paying crazy prices for them) to get a good cigar.
Lot's of good suggestions available here on WW. I really like tatuaje's. specifically 7th reserva. But for an everyday bargain, I really like Padron 3000's. They're very reasonably priced for the quality. I'm kinda over the Rockey Patels (1990's/92's/Decades). I started getting too many inconsistent cigars from the same box. some would burn funny, some would have different flavor characteristics (too peppery for my taste) and some would be superb. but my padron's and tatuaje's have always been pretty rock solid. I'm a "creature of habit" kinda cigar guy. I'll find one I like and stick w/that until i'm ready to move on. A lot of guys will barely smoke the same cigar twice. That's why consistency is important to me. I have found that i gravitate towards Nicaraguan's w/Maduro wrapper. I had a LFD something-or-other that the guy at the shop I go to threw in that was pretty good. But not good enough for me to rememer the cigar specifically.
As far as pairings, for me it's primarily water. maybe whiskey (not scotch). but I don't like them w/beer. maybe that's because about the most exotic I go w/beer is Shiner.. .ha ha. I did once buy Dog Fish Head ale. It was good. but too expensive for beer.

this site sucks

bmock50 03-21-2012 3:02 PM

^^^^ disregard my last comment, I have some pranking coworkers haha

I plan on trying everything my b and m has in stock and going from there!

bmock50 04-17-2012 1:55 PM

My NewAir280E just came in and I'm waiting on shelvesfrom Forrest to make it into a wineador. As soon as they come in, I plan on ordering a ton of sticks to stock it.

Anyone interested in doing a box split?

logan 04-18-2012 1:06 AM

I have a few I really enjoy.

Acid Kuba Kuba by Drew Estate, not the most high end but it smokes like a champ and has awesome flavor.
Cohiba Puro Dominica, super premium and I honestly enjoy these more than the Cohiba Esplendido's from Cuba in my humidor right now.
Tabak Especial by Drew Estate, more of a coffee flavor, but again smokes great every time.

I have some Montecristo's and Romeo Y Julieta from cuba in my Humidor right now, the Montecristo's smoke awesome, one of the greatest cigars I have ever smoked. But to be honest I have not tried any other MC's...

I REALLY want to order some of these...

bmock50 04-18-2012 5:38 AM

So order some! Order the 2fer and all paypal you $40 for 5 shipped to my door.

deuce 04-19-2012 6:42 PM

Smoke what you like, like what you smoke.... But I wouldn't touch those....7x58....wow that is a jawbreaker.

I think Tatuaje Regios is an awesome solid priced cigar. A Fuente Don Carlos is also a staple NC for me. For those ordering online, let me highly recommend cigarsatyourprice.com. Start at 50% of retail and go up at $1 or $.50 increments until you get an "okay". You can do singles, 5ers or boxes.... It is a good way to try a bunch of different stuff at a great price if you want.

Anyway, just spreading some love for those that love a cigar.

bmock50 04-19-2012 9:14 PM

I might have to try that site out. Have you ever used cigarbid.com?

Yes, but not for some time. Picked up a box of Padilla Miami robostos maybe 2 years ago.

bmock50 04-20-2012 6:56 AM

I checked out that site, and already saved myself quite a bit of cash. Thanks!

logan 04-20-2012 8:03 AM

Which site, cigars international?

bmock50 04-20-2012 8:06 AM

cigarsatyourprice.com

I'm not 21 so I can't legally use cigarsint or cigarbid, which is imo pretty dumb.

wakescene 04-20-2012 11:48 AM

Oh man,
Those AF Viejo's are so awesome(it's basically a Opux X) The less strong less cost version of that would be a King B. Never had a bad AF. The 8-5-8 Natural is also a fav.

I've also mentioned before my love of Henry Clay, Rocky Patel Connecticut's, and Gurka Liga S-2's.

It's a shame, I have never had a Cohiba I have liked. It's something about my palette...

bmock50 04-20-2012 12:16 PM

Which AF is that?

Not sure how I missed the Serie D no 4 in the pics above EJ nice choose

bmock50 04-20-2012 1:40 PM

How was that AF God of Fire?

guido 04-22-2012 2:03 AM

La Aurora 1495 Robusto's are a favorite.

04-23-2012 10:35 AM

God of Fire at least the 2006 Carlito Double Robusto (the only ones I've tried, got a box for a bargain off cigarbid.com) are very similar to an Opus X, and like an Opus they are aging well... just keep getting better and better.

deuce 04-29-2012 7:34 PM

Good day..... SLR Regios, Santos Sublime, Santos Short, Trinidad Reyes.....:D

bmock50 04-29-2012 8:46 PM

Picked up a RP 50, looking forward to smoking it!
