I'm the yellow boat in the background. I have wakeboards on my boat...so I think that justifies me posting here. <BR> <BR>Ben Fernie goes off! <BR> <BR>source of picture: <a href="http://www.nwflyin.com/gallery/100_2632.jpg" target="_blank">http://www.nwflyin.com/gallery/100_2632.jpg</a> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518810.jpg" alt="Upload">

That's a foil, those guys get some serious air. <BR> <BR>I ran the Scioto Wakefest and invited foilers so I think I'm qualified to post as well. <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518846.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518847.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518848.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518849.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518850.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518851.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518852.jpg" alt="Upload">

That just looks sick, I've got to give it a shot one of these days...

mrdenial 11-11-2007 12:39 PM

The one showing the rider is from my boat...I'm actually impressed with the wake...no ballast and 4 people in the boat. <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518870.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518871.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518872.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/518873.jpg" alt="Upload">

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. All kidding aside we could have done without the last one...

That's Gramps in the yellow alright.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/wink.gif" border=0>

dont those guys kill themselves if they catch an edge or crash hard? More so than a wakeboard cause you pop out of the bindings? It looks like they are strapped in good.

bill_airjunky 11-12-2007 9:53 PM

Been riding foils for about 14 yrs, and wakeboards before that for like 6 or 7. I've taken a few good crashes on both. Not sure which is worse, landing backwards on a 360, catching an edge &amp; having the handle ripped backwards out of my hands.............. or over rotating a big front flip &amp; landing on my chest &amp; face. <BR> <BR>Crashes on either suck. Lots of guys do both, not to mention barefoot &amp; slalom ski. But I haven't met many "ex foil riders". <BR> <BR>We don't ever want to come separated from the foil, because then it can come back &amp; hit you. Had that happen with skis &amp; boards too &amp; it still sucks. Eventually you can kind of be like a cat &amp; always get the foil down before you hit the water, then they hurt a little bit less. <BR> <BR> <BR>(Message edited by bill_airjunky on November 12, 2007)
