One of my buddies and I go on an annual thanksgiving snowboard trip from Wednesday to Sunday. We have always went to Colorado in the past, but were thinking of going somewhere with more snow this year. So the question is where will have the best snow that time of year? We were thinking whistler, but are open for suggestion.

Whistler is most likely going to be a mad house this entire season due to the Olympics. I am not sure of many places open that early in the season other than Colorado. You might want to check out some place in Utah.

Plus you're never guaranteed good snow in Whistler around Thanksgiving. 06 and 07 was amazing but 08 hardly had enough snow to open the mountain. You're taking a chance unless you book late.
I don't think the Olympics are going to be a factor that early in the season.

is there anyplace that usually has decent snow that early? i know there won't be great snow anywhere for sure, but is there one place better than the rest? i'm open for suggestions

i'd say wait as late as you can and go where the snow is...Utah, BC, WYoming, or CO would be my picks...mt hood in oregon might have snow that early...

(Message edited by romes on July 31, 2009)

Either Wolf Creek in CO or Grand Targhee in WY are your best bets for natural snow. Cowboys are prevalent at both locations.

There is almost always some place that just got slammed at Thanksgiving. Trouble is you just never know where it will be?
