Truck Speakers

Hey Audiophiles,

It sounds like I blew the stock speaker in my 2006 Ram 2500. I wanted to put some new ones in and I'm having trouble figuring out what I need. I'm not looking for anything super nice, maybe $100 for a pair, but what I seem to keep coming across is speakers that fit the door that also have tweeters in them. I have the 7 speaker system in my truck with 3 across the dash, which I believe are tweeters. Will buying a door speaker with a tweeter in it give me too much as far as the highs are concerned. I believe that I am looking for 6 or 6.5 inch speakers. Anyone have some recommendations for this price range. I won't have an amp powering them, just stock headunit. Also, will I need to replace the rear doors at the same time or can I hold off?

Thanks for the help guys.

It's been a few years, but I have the same truck. If I recall all the dash speakers were just 3" tweeters. The doors were a 2 way. The back doors you barely hear, so a good 3 way would be good back there. I think the doors are 6.25".

Check Crutchfield.com and you can enter the truck and it will tell you what speakers. I think in the end I change all; door speakers to 3-ways, kept the dash speakers, and than added the subs and amps. Stock head unit though.

Do you remember how hard it was to take the door panels off? I think this is probably somehting I could do myself, but I had a passat before this and I could never figure out how to take the door panels off. Thanks for the help man. Would I need an amp to run 3 ways? Also it is the Laramie edition with the Infinity sound package, not sure if that makes a difference.
