I was browsing boats that I know I'll probably never be able to afford and that it was funny that out of the "7 things you need to know about this boat" winning wakeworld riders choice was the number 1 thing you need to know

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mastercraft-X-Star-2009-Navy-Metal-Flake-Paint_W0QQitemZ330359785260QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPowe r_Motorboats?hash=item4ceafa472c&_trksid=p4506 .c0.m245

I think that is valid. That tells you what the majority of wakeboardes prefer (WW is a big enough sample to validate that claim)

I think I would have left it at that if I was selling the boat. #2 just turned me off, did not read another one after that. How many 12's have been landed behind it?

yeah...I think it's valid as well. I was just surprised to see someone referencing wakeworld.

After #1 it is the typical dealer/owner ploy to get you to buy the boat with their down talking of other boat brands.

You think that's surprising? A few years ago I walked through the MasterCraft booth at the L.A. Boat Show and was stoked to see special stickers on the boat windows that bragged about the Riders Choice Award. Very cool. They've also put it in their magazine ads as well. Seems like smart marketing to me.

Yeah...I do think it's surprising, only because I didn't realize how big wakeworld is. It's definitely cool...

No disrespect Dave, but I would be curious to know how many riders voted for that boat, who have never actually been in, driven, or ridden behind it? Could there be quite a few who only voted this way because that is what their favorite pro rider has, or because it is what someone else has told them, or because it is the most expensive entree on the menu? Just curious, that's all.

Tank - Sure, but isn't that part of great marketing? I am sure it is a manufacturers dream to get people to pick their boat as their favorite when they've never seen one in person, been in one, or ridden behind one.

^^^ Nail on the head! Perhaps it would be a different result if we only allowed people to vote who have experience with each boat model. Or we could further narrow it to only allowing people to vote that have had experience with every boat model for that model year. Obviously, it's impossible to do either of those, so we just have to do the best we can.
