I see threads below on the Murray. What do folks think of the B Side and how does it compare to the Murray?

two completely different boards. depends on what your style is. I ride the Murray...but I typically like a continous rocker.

I have a 141 Bside for sale if you decide to go with that board. What size feet do you have? The reason im selling it is because its too skinny for my size 12 feet. $200 shipped.

B side is a sweet board, great pop. and i believe is a bit faster than the murray. i ride the 136 b side.

anthony are you saying the board is too skinny thats impossible!

dscorni 09-21-2008 2:03 PM

my son rides the b side and he says it pops you

Chris,

I am saying that the board is too skinny if you have a size 12+ feet. When you cut hard toe side you get heavy water drag on your toes. It sucks big time. The board is awesome otherwise. Very fast.

really i though it was a wide board. it is wider than my 06 murray and i have size xxl bindings and dont have that problem. i was under the impression that the bside was wider than the murray 06. maybe i wont go the bside then lol thanks for the heads up

Hi, I rode whit 141 b-side few times, great board. My binddings is a murray 10. When a cut toe side I got water drag on all binddings. That is a big problem of the b-side. IMO. Now I ride whit murray 140. Perfect board, smooth lands, great edge, big pop and very light. I had an ACL reconstruction 5 months ago. That board have what I find...Perfect lands and good controls on the water.

I have a b side 141. I love it but am wondering about a Murray for next year (pick one up cheap this time of year).

It is a wide board. I have no problem with toe drag, but I wear a size 10 (M/L) in bindings. I could see it happening with a very large bindings though. Can really get over on the edge though (which is why I imagine you get the drag with bigger bindings). They should put a "platform" on the b side like the Murray and problem solved.

Josh: You're question may have been directed to Anthony who is selling his board, but I have M/L OBrien Link binding on mine and ride with rear foot ducked to about 7 degrees and front foot only to about 5 degrees (so fairly straight on both). I have no issues with width of the board or toe drag. No good pictures of board but you may be able to zoom in on these...

Both my feet are ducked out pretty wide. Before I bought the B-Side I was riding a 07 LF Shane 140 and the mid width of that is 44.80cm. The mid width of the B-Side 141 is 43.81. The side cut on the B-Side is pretty aggressive where the Shane stays pretty wide from tip to tail. I just bought a 08 Watson 142 and the mid width of that is 44.50cm and I have zero toe drag cutting in hard on my toeside edge. The bindings im using are the 07 Shane closed toe size 12.

B-side is a great board. it's fast and lands nice. I had the toe drag issue at first but now I dont. I think its all about your toeside edging style. I have size 10 2008 murrays and byerlys.

Rode my B Side without the center fins for the first time this weekend and fell back in love with the board. Much faster and much more pop, although probably due mostly to forcing me to edge properly. Unfortunately, it was the last run of the season - wish I had tried this sooner.

May try the Murray next Spring, but thinking I'll stick with a finless B Side.
